Well THAT was fun! I laughed pretty much through the whole thing. :)

I really adored how Tendi and Rutherford ended up saving everyone. Yay science!

The first officer was voiced by Vanessa Marshall.

Does anyone know what species she's supposed to be? I drew a complete blank.

The one thing I do feel they need to cut back/tone down is the constant Jazz related references EVERYTIME they have Riker give an order. Sorry, but "Give me Warp in the factor of 5...6...7..8..." wasn't that funny (and was MO, rather groan worthy) the first time they did it. If they continue to have Riker doing that EVERY TIME...:barf: (YMMV of course.)
Proving that humor is relative - I thought that was really funny.

I really love this show. :adore:

Joking aside, we know for sure what was the common view about public nudity during TNG? Obviously it was being broadcast on a network and so they couldn't show people completely naked in the corridors of the Enterprise, but in theory, would there be some problem?

As far as I know, no. In-universe wise, people walking nude in the halls wouldn't be an issue.
Roddenberry essentially said that people in the 24th century would have been like 'new humans' concept he proposed for the late 23rd century (and its likely that this movement increased to become part of society as a whole).
Nudity would have been widely accepted and not a big deal, along with numerous other things.

Think of it like this: there are tribes across the world today who are completely nude and both men and women do not fixate on body parts, instead they look each other in the eyes.... essentially, it comes down to a matter of adjusting to seeing people nude. After a short while, it's not a big deal anymore (especially in UFP whose cultures are supposed to be highly progressive and open minded).

The reason why you don't see nudity though to such a degree is because the show is made in the 21st century on a network and in country that doesn't think such material should be shown on TV for the given audience (which is arguably a bit silly when you think of the things kids and people at large are exposed to on a daily basis - murder, violence, etc.- in present system, people are exceptionally hypocritical without even realizing it).

Thankfully, I think in various parts of the world, the perception on nudity is changing for the better... and this is arguably a good thing... because it would also result in a lot of hangups people have of their own bodies (thanks to the beauty industry) to evaporate in the process.... and if you think about it... a lot of it has roots in money.
Without those hangups, there would essentially be nothing to monetize (or at least far less)... and if you apply a similar view to everything else...

Well...it's a different time. It's not the 60's, man ;)

Its not the 60-ies, no, but Roddenberry's mindset on nudity had nothing to do with the 60-ies.
Most people and Trek fans grew up with different views of the world than Roddenberry.
Even Jacque Fresco spoke a lot about nudity in RBE (or as it was called back then, 'Cybernation') and explained it in pretty much the same manner - aka, that it wouldn't be a big deal anymore and our 'hangups' would have been gone (from which Roddenberry apparently got a lot of his ideas from.

I am genuinely upset that Giant Spock Clone™ was killed off. Spock Prime dies? Pfft, there's an exact, albeit 50-foot-tall copy of him out there.

Now there isn't. And the Trekverse is a little darker than it was before. Weird also that he'd be offscreen killed in an episode that ended with Boimler getting cloned. Imagine the conversations they could have had about being forgotten copies living in the shadows, with Ethan Peck or Zachary Quinto doing the voice.

The Starship Troopers-ish nudity at the start was interesting. A lot of early Trek novels and Roddenberry's Vision™ involved nudity and it being no biggie in the future. Pretty sure the TMP novel even implied shagging in the rec room and observation lounges.

So I'm sad about this episode, but I still really enjoyed it. Better than last week's.

That's the joke...

What if it was a clone of a clone? After all, the guy who cloned Spock to begin with probably didn't feel any need to stop.

I saw both episodes, not a whole lot to say about them. Except that now I wish they had a series on the Titan. I want to see these guys every week.

I don't think there's much point to rating them either. The jokes either land or they don't. I liked this week's episode better than last.

That's interesting. I didn't see them as TOS-ish at all, but rather as products of the First Contact/ Dominion War era Star Trek that emphasized action, battles, and black and grey clad Starfleet officers toting phaser rifles over things like teaching an android to tap dance.
That was my take on it. I look at Lower Decks as if it was being made in 2003, the year after Nemesis was released in theaters and the same year DS9 was being released on DVD. In that context, yeah, the Titan dead-on fits right in with late-DS9, FC type of Star Trek. So did Enterprise Season 3, which was about to come out at the time.

Per IMDB, the unknown species First Officer is named Ottesa Warren. They also list an Ensign Barnes and a Lieutenant Commander Stevens, but I'm not sure if those were Titan officers or not.
