Oh that could also be taken as a dig at the final two seasons of DS9, and seasons 3 and 4 of ENT. Alex Kurtzman was hardly the first Star Trek producer of serialized Star Trek.
Yeah, plus Disco isn't known for "mind-blowing twists" is it? It's not really amazing non-stop battles. I think they were just trying to say "Don't expect AWESOME EPICNESS every week."

DISCO was built around a bunch of twists actually, not the least being Lorca and Michael as the Red Angel. Plus the huge mystery over what caused the Burn. Also, yes, they do have a nonstop action quota.

I took Brad's demotion as a sly reference to how Tom Riker, despite having been the same as Will, remaining a lieutenant even though Will was promoted to Lt. Cdr. as a result of the heroic actions that resulted in Tom's stranding in the first place.

As for public nudity, my fan senses were tingling mostly because if Mariner had been regularly seeing Brad naked to that point why'd she act so repulsed when he was naked on the shuttle? But, she is a jerk, so no real explanation necessary.

Yeah, but few of those were "mind-blowing."

I think that the sonic shower was actually projecting blur censors over them in the shower. Like how on Futurama there's a censor bar generator in the locker room.

I enjoyed this episode a lot. All of the Trek references in the collection were great, we got to see Tendi and Rutherford take charge for a bit, the new security chief was interesting and we had some fun with the Titan. I think that directly copying the Will/Tom Riker situation was a bit too set up and obvious, but it will probably come back in an interesting way down the line. Also, it is a bit ridiculous how Starfleet promotes and demotes on a whim. The extra Boimler should have been transferred to one of the probably hundreds of ships that had space for a Lt. jr grade instead of being demoted for no reason and sent back to old his ship immediately, but I get the narrative reasons that they needed to reset back to the show's status quo, so it doesn't bother me too much. The sonic showers were stupid, though. They could easily have even just holographic dividers between stalls, and the "in the future everyone is fine showing everyone else their naked bodies" has always been an idiotic trope when it shows up. It didn't ruin the episode or anything, but I definitely rolled my eyes at the scene.

So, overall an enjoyable episode, with a few weird stretches of logic done to get the show back where it needs to be, so I voted 8.

"William James Tiberius Boimler" ;)
Named after his captain, uncle, sex instructor

You are right the twists in Disco were not mind blowing and the battles were not amazing:guffaw:
