Dukat: Soon the Pah wraiths will burn across Bajor, the Celestial Temple, the Alpha Quadrant. Can you picture it? An entire universe set in flames, to burn for all eternity.

That's probably just a coincidence. DSC's Burn didn't last quite that long.

srsly, while it is entirely possible that the Gav'Nor was a simple name drop - doesn't even have to suggest that Cardassia has actually joined the Federation, although I also wouldn't rule that out - the Burn probably doesn't have anything to do with that Pah Wraith stuff.

(Adira Tal plays mysterious melody)

Random Cardassian: Of all the music and culture that Cardassia and its territories had to offer the galaxy, I never expected the Hymn of the Pah Wraiths to catch on as much as it did. Adira plays it quite well.

Burnham: What's a pah wraith?

It's the quickest way to spot Midnight's Edge and Doomcock types, who don't actually know the show. Or those who are trying to pass themselves off as "old school" when they're not. They're posers who just say what they think sounds good or sounds right (in both senses of the word). That's why I don't bother with them or take what they say into consideration.

I'm far from a certfied expert on this franchise and I get plenty wrong when it comes to getting details right but I know when a character is distraught and crying in a scene. Shatner can produce a river of tears or none at all but Kirk. Was. Crying. In that film.

Yeah, as i mentioned on Reddit, the music might be another hint for the Pah Wraiths.

"The Prophets, in their celestial temple, transcend all of time and space. Maybe this melody is their warning that the Pah Wraiths are free again or heralding the return of the Sisko or a new emissary (Burnham?)..."

"From earlier posts that i made:

"I compiled a list for all the things i found, hinting at the Pah Wraiths possibly being the cause of the burn and Cleveland Booker being one of them:

-The dilithium crystal being red instead of white in the new opening credits.

-The wormhole (also in the opening credits) and the mentioning of the nearest one by Booker, whose face began to glow a bit like Dukat's under their influence, when he used his powers.

Book describing his family as hunters and murderers.

-The prophecy in DS9 about a golden age for Bajor lasting for a millennium.

-Dukat talking about the Pah Wraiths burning across the alpha quadrant.

-The connection of the Prophets and Pah Wraiths to time and their perception of it, which might be relevant to the outcome of the temporal (cold) war.

-The possible return of Dax.

-The new combadges looking kinda bajoran.

-Season 2 starting its arc with the first appearance of the Red Angel, while the first episode of Season 3 introduced Booker.

-The name of the cat being Grudge. By the way i'm not sure if Grudge's supposed to be a real cat or something else. "

"If we look at the previous seasons, the most important characters and plot elements were always introduced at the beginning (S1: L'Rell and Lorca, The Mycelium Network; S2: Pike, The Red Angel)

And the name of the cat might be forshadowing Book's reveal. "(She's) heavy and all mine".

The Pah Wraiths were known to bear a grudge against Bajor and the Prophets (and maybe Starfleet and the Federation, because the emissary of the Prophets was an highly decorated and influential Starfleet Captain)."

Small point - the blue crystals from last season’s intro were Boreth time crystals like the one they used to power the suit. The (red) crystals this season are, indeed, dilithium. Apples and hand grenades (but considering the whole temporal angle, they may still be related). Other than that, you make some good points.

Yep. They were pretty underwhelming too. They didn't even say anything like, "Die organic scum!" or call Picard an "ugly meatbag" or "Ugly bags of water" (I believe the latter phrase was actually used in a TNG episode).
they were •very• underwhelming. They receive a distress call, start emerging veeeery slooowly from a wormhole, stop receiving the signal and just go back to their own dimension (crushing some of their own tentacles in the process)? Oh well...

i think there were several hints on background graphics that the cardies had joined.

The name of the cat being Grudge.

mmhh...sounds very elaborate...

In any case I’ll be extremely surprised if the pah Wraiths are referenced in any way.

One other bit:

IMDB's entry for this episode says it's a goof that Vulcan appears to have a greenish tint to its atmosphere (which it's never had in any other appearance). Now correct me if I'm wrong, but the green thing was in fact a planetary defense shield, wasn't it? That's the vibe I got, anyway.

well it is 930 years later and I'm sure the Romulans brought some of their own trees and plants...:D

Let's look at why the scene was implanted in the episode:

Yes, Enterprise stitched those ideas together, but in 1996, it was put in to play up the fun. Trying to backdate it as an attempt at a valid explanation is truly dishonest.

No it wasn’t to play up the fun it was part if canon and worf said they were Klingons but they didn’t talk about it. So we knew something had happened and then enterprise elaborated on it. It sounds to me that you’re trying to justify all the crappy changes Discovery has made to canon.

Hmm. Between you and the guy who wrote the scene, who am I to believe?

BTW, you still have not explained why people should not have been rending their clothes over the lack of an explanation for 20+ years.
