Maybe they did.

Back in the day, there was a DS9 episode where Martok mentioned the Klingons sending temporal assault fleets back in time to prevent the Empire's enemies from ever existing. Those fleets were of course never heard from again, and effectively their missions all failed (since everybody knows that history was not, in fact, changed).

So the Klingons probably just figured that trying to mess around with history was dishonorable, or a waste of effort. Or both.

Are you confusing DS9 with the Enterprise episode Carpenter Street?

I'm gonna say yes to a certain extent. I wish I had a older wiser symbiote giving me advice and telling me NOT to do stupid shit from the ages of 15-30. WOuld have saved me a lot of grief.
Well, adolescent psychology says that intelligence is at best an imperfect, incomplete defense against risk taking and impulsiveness.

Based on personal experience it takes time to figure these things out without an alien being inside your guts. Plus we don't really know what 32nd century Earth culture is like, so it may not be a very accepting place. Now that they're in an environment that's more accepting, Adira may feel safer to be themself.
I doubt it, the people of Earth will be used to dealing with species that have 4 gendars and species that have one since the 22nd century. Its not as if a non binary human looks different from other humans. In universe I expect transspeciesm to be a norm.

What are you talking about? DS9 didn't mention anything like that.

I'm disappointed we didn't see Mars, and if it's got that huge chunk of it of it we see in PIC's intro sequence.

The what now?

I'll assume you are not a black female, but in the future fast hair growth might be sold down the local market lol

In the 24th century they had the ability to stimulate hair growth. After Seven was liberated from the Collective her hair grew out pretty fast, also Janeway, Tuvok and Torres, after they were assimilated, had their hair back by the end of Part 2.

I assume by the 32nd it would still exist, and would be even better.

Three episodes into DIS S.2 and PIC S1 there was no clue of how high the stakes were. As you say, it could very well be that DIS S3 follows that pattern. We could yet see the Burn and who/whatever is behind it rises to galaxy-level stakes akin to those you're listing.

Regardless of it not being as pressing as will Earth or organic life be destroyed, it's still a pressing problem. The lack of dilithium caused the Federation to fracture. She thinks this is bad, because it means that people can bully others due to the disparities over who has dilithium and who doesn't. Solving how and why dilithium mostly went boom is something that could bring the Federation back to life.

For me, I don't care so much if a story is high-stakes or low-stakes as long as it's interesting and engaging. Which so far this season is. And that is not something I could always say about DIS.

Picard might be a good comparison, because there was a big McGuffin which was added as part of the framework for the series (the attack on the Utopia Planitia shipyards) which was solved as part of the first season. However, this wasn't really the "quest" of the season - it was just discovered incidentally as part of everything else which is going on.

I said it before, and I want to make it clear - I have no problem with them discovering what caused the Burn. I just don't think that it makes for good dramatic fare for a seasonal arc. It seems pretty clear the arc will be "find the Federation" and then move to rebuild it.

A perverse part of me wants the plot to be 'find the Federation, try to rebuild and then find out the majority of the planets are very happy the way things are thank you very much so piss off Discovery' lol
I loved the captain of Earth's response that Earth is doing ok without the UFP.
Its not as if there is a galactic war taking place between former members

I didn't know that... but it fits what I think. I'm still imagining the Vuclans have turned.
Well there is an episode Unification III, I suspect Spock's plan worked too well or it was the Romulans who turned the Vulcans.
However the Andorians are in league with the Orions so maybe they are the bad guys

I think this is a second chance. One of the problems with Star Trek in the past was how Earth-centric the Federation was. Now DSC will be able to correct this.

Even if Earth were to rejoin the Federation (which it sure doesn't look like here), Starfleet Command and everything else is now probably far away from it.

One thing Discovery will definitely need is a tactical upgrade. One blast and their shields are out isn't going to cut it. And I'm going to assume Saturn doesn't exactly have the most advanced weaponry. So if Discovery ever goes up against anyone serious, as it is right now, they're fucked.
