"Dearly Beloved...we are gathered here today...to find a new power source to get past the Burn..."
No thats fight clubWait, we're not supposed to talk about it on any side.
I'm sure those standing near dilithium did.Feel the Burn!
What Degree?Feel the Burn!
I'm sure those standing near dilithium did.
I bet Meet the Press is still on, even then. And Doctor Who.Topped only by Meet the Press
I'm not big into wrestling of any kind, but when did Mankind and Survivor have a fight?Thankfully mankind defeated Survivor by Season 47.
I think it's possible that they mentioned this because it might be a while (months? a year? a couple of years?) before Discovery arrives. So maybe the Discovery will meet up with Burnham pretty much right after they arrive, but they might not arrive for a while.
Of course, if this happens we likely won't see Burnham go through all that time; I'm assuming the story will soon (maybe by the end of Part 2 of the season premiere) move forward to the time Discovery arrives, and give us a quick idea of what Burnham was doing during that time.
I'm still thinking environmental message. It's their normal activities that caused the catastrophe. It'll probably be revealed that the Federation new about it and didn't change their ways. Seems like a good message for our times. We're just before our own "Burn" might start if we don't change our ways.I don't think the Federation or anyone in it would've intentionally had anything to do with The Burn either. It was either an accident or the handiwork of one of the 31st Century enemies of the Federation who doesn't need dilithium and would benefit from the Federation's destabilization.
It's probably not a single event that you can go back and fix. Probably a whole way of life that needs to be changed. Nah, they're not going to undo the Burn.If either of those things caused it they sure as heck better go back to the past and fix things...
Discovery has shown other drone tech working in the background to clean the ship (notably after Culber and Tyler's mess hall fight in Season 2). There are probably a lot of automated cleaning and repair tech that we just don't see. But, overall, the damage and the technology/resource base requirements to repair the station probably aren't in existence any more after the devastation of the Burn, at least not at the relatively backwater world that Hima seems to be.
No civilization lasts forever, even in Star Trek.
Since it's come up a few times: If you really can't wait and wanna know if and how and when the Disco and Burnham get together...
Episode 2 begins with Disco's arrival and ends with Burnham finding them and revealing via viewscreen that she's been there for a year. The reunification in person will then be in episode 3.
