Just had a horrible thought, if it does end up being a reset either full or partial it could actually restore Connolly and we may get him if a Pike/Enterprise series gets the go ahead. :wtf:

if he's reset he'll still be his usual self, which i think will ensure he'll apply for the darwin award again - must be nice for the writers to get a chance to off him in a ridiculously stOOpid way for a second time

I was on Youtube not long ago and watched a woman walking along the sea front with the waves smashing over it I think it was in the USA and she was giving a weather broadcast.

She was very careful to protect herself from the waves.

Unfortunately she was not able to protect herself from the fish that came along with a particularly big wave that caught her right up the side of her face.

I am still not sure who was surprised the most, her or the fish, I can state that it was a thing of beauty to behold.

I am pretty sure that Connolly was the most surprised in his final encounter, it could have been the asteroid though as it was aiming for Nhan at the time.

i had an idea how they could finish up control - they hand over all the pertinent data as to conolly's death and control implodes trying to figure out what had happened

And Kirk and company would save the Federation as they know it countless times. Picard saved humanity through the intervention of god like beings, and Voyager saved the entire Delta quadrant from the Borg single handily.

Ah, Star Trek. Always consistent.

TOS, the Ent was a normal ship. They stopped a potential invasion of our galaxy (By Any Other Name). and who knows, we might have won that, had the invasion happened. I can't think of other Huge, earth or fed or galaxy saving things they did. Maybe the Doomsday Machine would have gone tnrough the most densely populated zone? Can't remember. i was comparing DSC to its fellow series. I n the m ovies the stakes got raised for EPICness, bruh for sure. There's a good thread on epicness creep somewhere on bbs.

The trouble with this dsc arc is there's no real drama/suspense since we know sentient life survives and control is thwarted. It's like in TOS, the ship would be in danger. Except you knew it'd be fine. Because next episode. I am definitely liking the Spock Burnham arc since I can't have issue of the week fun.

Didn’t Tom Cruise stretch this idea into a movie a few years ago?

I'll always struggle to understand this point of view. There is no drama period in an episodic show. Even if this was set post-NEM does anyone truly believe that Control would assert dominance and wipe out all life? Any more than I believe Kirk will stay dead, or Sisko will remain assigned to Earth or any number of things.

Drama and suspense come with the individual characters and their response to it, not whether or not I know the outcome. Because, in the end, no they are not going to kill off the entire galaxy.

Another thing:

Gabrielle said that she established her 'home base' on Terralysium (presumably her act of moving the church there in "New Eden" was a test) because there was no indigenous technology and so Control couldn't track her there.

But this is Terralysium of 950 years in the future. Surely they would have developed some technology by then? Especially since Pike left behind a fully functioning power cell for the inhabitants to use?

I think the point was to establish a base that is so far removed in time and space from the Federation that their is no chance for Control Software to pollute it.

Control was hell bent on wiping out all sentient life in the entire universe. Just heading out a few thousand light years to Terralysium would be child's play for it. As long as there's any technology on a planet, Control can track it. That was Gabrielle's stated reasoning for going there.

But no society progresses almost a thousand years without developing a technological base. The people in "New Eden" may have been simple farmers, but their descendants 950 years hence would not be! Control would be able to find them.

Ironic. What finally destroyed the Founders in the Gamma Quadrant wasn't an organic solid.

OK, I have resigned myself to control becoming Borg. The "struggle is pointless" line made it kind of obvious. And the writers are probably doing high fives thinking they are very clever., like they did with Lorca & MU and ash & Voq, I will be happy if it turns out otherwise and be a red herring.

Game Over for Connolly. Smashed to smithereens by Section 31's ship.
Is anyone else a fan of the delightfully macabre work by 20th-century illustrator Edward Gorey (you've seen his work on the intro animation to "Masterpiece Mystery" on PBS)? Namely, I'm talking about his 1963 art book The GashlycrumbTinies that (ostensibly) teaches kids their ABCs with dark twisted humor. It's great stuff if you don't mind the dark humor of young children dying in horrific ways ;) .

It starts:

A is for Amy who fell down the stairs
B is for Basil assaulted by bears
C is for Clara who wasted away
D is for Desmond thrown out of a sleigh

Your post reminds me of that book.

Here's a DSC version of it, but since I can't think of enough DSC characters who died who could fill in the ABCs in order, I'm going to cheat and skip a few letters:

A is for Airiam, blown out an airlock
C is for Connolly, smashed by a rock
G is for Georgiou, impaled with a mek'leth
H is for Hugh, neck snapped upon his last breath

If they are hitting the reset button, then they might as well let it all hang out.

I'm surprised so many disliked this episode. I thought it was very good and Leland Drone and Control being the bad guy is kind of working for me. I'm not sure how the Borg infected it but I did like the "Enterprise" episode that also had the Borg and they have avoided certain Borg cliches so I don't mind seeing them. I think it comes down to me really liking Burnham's mom as a character. I would actually be okay with the show killing MIcheal off and making her mom a new character. Plus I am a sucker for time travel though my theory that Burnham's parents are going to end up being Ant Man and Wasp of a new timeline were like in the comics Trek has encountered Marvel stuff before will most likely not come true.:)
