Up to the second commercial break now. Man, this is stupid so far. Really stupid. Lorca is mustache-twirling. Tons of expository dialogue. The absolute worst though is that the TE ship threatens "the whole of all universes." Given there are an infinite number of them, if any one act could cause the mycelial network to die, it would have happened already.

So I am pretty sure the show will hit the reset button on the whole "Klingons win the war" cliffhanger by having the Discovery, after a suitable amount of drama and action, eventually time travel back 9 months and fix everything. Considering that the Federation being almost taken over completely by the Klingons is not canon in the prime universe. But maybe this is proof that we are not in the Prime universe yet?

This is one of those episodes that's really good as long as you don't spend any time thinking about it. The writing was braindead on an epic scale. None the less, I was pretty riveted. And it was the first time so far that my mind never wandered.

The only thing I wonder about, though, is if they just cut off the proverbial nose to spite the face.

Well...poop. We all knew where this was headed, but I had really hoped there might be a way around it.

Still, it was a solid episode.

Yep. The action was amazing. The ending was terrific. The episode was definitely fun and engaging with a lot going on. But the episode had some really cliche monologues from Lorca, predictable plot points, and nonsensical technobabble.
