Sorry but not feeling the love on this one. It occurs to me we have three hours of show in this series and we could've covered this ground in a single episode. Looks like all flash and no substance.

My free trial of All Access is over and I will not be paying for more. The value proposition just isn't there for me. The show isn't good enough for the $6 fee AND having to watch commercials too. And there isn't enough value in the rest of All Access compared to subscriptions like Netflix and HBO.

I'll be lurking to see what you all think of future episodes. Enjoy.

Try cancelling and see if they offer you a free month.

I said it doesn't work. You know because ten year later no one has ever heard of the revolutionary "new way to fly."

Yep. Two things we know: the Klingons don't win, and Discovery's new drive won't work for long.

Taking the first two episodes as one big two-parter, I kinda liked those a little more than this one, but this episode was excellent.

I thought Tilly stole the show. I like the "lower decks" feel of her scenes. She's great.

Finally got to see Stamets! Been eagerly waiting to see this character since he was announced. Love Anthony Rapp and thought he did a great job.

The mycological angle here is intriguing and definitely has my attention.

Still think Lorca is up to no good. I imagine he is going to have to be removed at some point.

Not sure how I feel about the alien monster yet because we don't know anything about it, but we'll see.

TRIBBLE.

GORN SKELETON.

HORIZONTAL WARP DRIVE.

The ship is gorgeous. GORGEOUS.

9/10. Keep'em coming.

No problems with CBSAA. I've watched DSC episodes on my Xbox, laptop, phone and at my parents' house on their PS4. No technical issues. Looks good.

Hmm...the audience "Liked It" score actually dropped this evening, to 58%.

Understandable.

I like Isaacs as Lorca, but fuck this show is a trudge.

Overall, pretty bad.

Well you're in the minority. Just look at the audience ratings here on this site. Completely predictable: the doomsayers are whining and moaning that the show turned out to be pretty damned good!

Starfleet probably considers them too dangerous, that animal on the Glenn probably came from the experiment.

Whatever the reason, I feel like it will be explained. I mean, why did Starfleet give up on Transwarp-- just because Scotty sabotaged it? QUITTERS!

Yep. Two things we know: the Klingons don't win, and Discovery's new drive won't work for long.

Yup. Transwarp propulsion fell by the wayside after the failure of the Excelsior to prove the technology worked and we didn't hear about transwarp again in the franchise until TNG and VOY and in-universe it didn't come up again until well over 80 years later. Starfleet dropped it like a hot potato or kept its research classified and very quiet.

Yeah this was an example of Discovery NAILING it!
well written and well acted. the plot was great. gives us kind of a "weird thing of the week" with a serialized story line.

makes me wish they started here as the pilot and gave us the back story in flashbacks.
