Early media reviews seem positive - Vox, Uproxx, Av Club...IGN

Media reviewers will generally be positive regardless, given the 'progressive' nature of the show. Ghostbusters 2016 got positive film critic reviews.

It really comes down to audience reactions when it comes to TV shows.

For whatever reason, STD is at 58% on RT with audiences polled and sinking.

It was well written until the beginning of the third season, where it fell completely off the rails and landed in the New York City sewer.

I agree the final season got a bit silly, but I think a lot of the last two seasons were affected by the writer's strike. They had to rush the 3rd season to act as a potential series ender, and then had to come up with a whole new story after that resolution when the strike ended.

What we saw of that first edition of the map in Lorca's office reminds me of material from ST: Star Charts.

For whatever reason? The reason is simple: the early doomsayers are mad it's well-liked, and are doing their best to bring down the audience score. Critics aren't giving DSC good reviews because of diversity. It's actually a very good show.

You could have used any example and you used Ghostbusters where the review scores were relentlessly bombed? Heck i thought it was meh but not nearly as bad as the that audience score. and oh yeah, because star trek isn't being metabombed either

This isn't some big-ass conspiracy, dude. The critics don't care that much about the latest Star Trek series to conspire to try to bring it down.

Hell, I don't think most Trekkies could muster enough energy and initiative to do that and we're emotionally invested in this franchise.

That's an interesting conspiracy theory.

The reality is if fans and audiences are this divided, it's not 'well liked.' We will have to see how the next weeks play out before STD's reputation is cemented.

I like the RT audience polling because it's linked to real social media profiles of all of the people who vote (unlike IMDB). So you can see that a lot of the people who dislike the show are real viewers without an agenda in play.

Hell if I know what to think about this. It was interesting, but honestly? Could have been *any* new sci-fi show. Didn't really feel like Star Trek. Reminded me a little of what I saw in Alien (never saw it through) or various other shows/movies.

Also Section 31ish. DARK. WE MUST HAVE DARK SHOWS, PEOPLE. ALL SHOWS MUST BE DARK.

People thoughts: Lorca: Fucked if I know what his game is. Burnham: I still like her in spite of her flaws. Tilly: Oh God, please make it stop. Stamets: Eh. Prison chick: Anyone with a brain knew what was going to happen in the chow hall and the results of that action.

Will rewatch it to get more out of it. I'm still on board though.

CBS All Access blows though. I went to watch After Trek after the show and couldn't get on via the CBS App. Must be related to that as my desktop worked fine (but I can't chromecast from there, so I'll wait 'til later to catch it). I wonder if they have a robust enough system to handle the traffic? From where I'm sitting, no.

Edit: Betcha those other prisoners en route to the prison place never make it. There will be an unfortunate accident.

As far as how fans ACTUALLY feel about it, the poll up top speaks very clearly to the general consensus... and the poll on this site for "Battle At the Binary Stars" had 75% of respondents rating it a 7, 8, 9, or 10.

I had no issues once again with my Roku Streaming Stick and the CBS All Access feed. It worked perfectly on my 60" television and looked magnificent in full 1080p. I truly feel sorry for those having difficulties - and I dearly wish that the show could be seen under more normal circumstances, but, these are the cards we've been dealt.

Feels as much like Star Trek as DS9 felt like TOS/TNG when it initially premiered, or as ENT did when it first aired. It's new and different, but still has enough of Trek's DNA to be recognizable to me.

The fact that it feels like "any other new sci-fi" probably speaks more to how much influence Trek has had on TV science fiction.

As for the app, I haven't had any problems, either on ROKU last week, or on my PS4 this week.

I don't think he is. That organization, in the prime timeline anyway, seems to work in very small groups and manipulate rather than do its own work.

There’s definitely some black ops group at work here. This seems like the most logical. I’d just rather it not be.
