Star Trek comics preview released

does anyone have any idea when this comic is going to be released? i've gone to a number of comic book stores today and not only does no one have it , nobody seems to know when it will be coming out!

Issue #1 is due in January, so to have it in stock over the next few weeks they'll have needed to have ordered it three months ago from the Diamond Orderpak. If they don't have the record of ordering it on their computer, it won't be coming in. "Star Trek: Countdown" #1 was scheduled to arrive in stores on January 14 from IDW Publishing.

The next three are due February, March and April, with the compilation omnibus in May.

I'd be making sure they plan to order the omnibus, which is probably in the current orderpak, or ask them to order back issues (reorders) of the four separate issues. The orderpack should be on their front counter. It's a thick monthly catalogue.

update. i found a store where they actually knew something about them and they are going to bein stores on wed jan 21st.

Did you by any chance ask how much they will cost ?

^ $3.19 US per issue, according to this.

That's the marked-down price given here. Also a subscription price of $3.99/issue from IDW. (I'd imagine the store price would be close to this.) Amazon.com has the TPB for pre-order at $12.23, or at Amazon UK for £9.45.

Edit: I don't find it on Forbidden Planet's site yet, but I'd be surprised if they didn't have it.

i was told 3.95 u.s. for each issue.
Which would make it about 2 pounds 70 per issue in the UK, which is where I think SalvorHardin is.

yeah, but how much is it in quatloos?;)

While I didn't like that dialogue either, I sincerely doubt that the wording used in a comic book is going to be even remotely similar to the film.

I'm a huge fan of 24th century Earth economics.
Money does not exist.

So when the time comes, I'll just walk in the comic book store, grab Countdown and head for the exit.:bolian:

The supposedly odd dialog has to be looked at in the proper context.

These are, [presumably] a civilian mining ship and crew. Comparing how they speak with what we've seen before, aboard Romulan Military ships, is not logical. It's all new territory in which anything goes.

However, if we see any Romulan Military; I would expect them to sound/act as expected.

But we've seen Romulan civilians before, in Unification. They said things like Jolan Tru, which was cool and alienesque. They weren't calling each other "Big Boy" or talking about their asses. Jeez, everytime I see that line I picture a big muscular man in an S&M costume saying it with a German accent.

And they were serving soup, or providing research, not mining. :rommie:

Good point. Therefore, this comic violates canon by depicting Romulan civilians doing something other than serving soup or providing research. Romulans don't mine in canon.

"Jolan Tru" fits no definition of cool speak that I have ever seen...

What's wrong with you? Jolan Tru is one of the coolest things I have ever heard.
