Forgive me if I hope for something more from the characters of Star Trek...
I'll give that due consideration, in its turn.
Forgive me if I hope for something more from the characters of Star Trek...
By the way, why does it seem we all believe making the language more realistic and conversational means injecting colorful metaphors?
Because so very many people talk that way.
Forgive me if I hope for something more from the characters of Star Trek than the dialogue of your average idiots at the mall.
George Carlin is not an idiot. Nor is Lenny Bruce or Louis C.K. or Richard Pryor.Because so very many people talk that way.

But what if the character dipicted is supposed to be an idiot?

Interesting - in the middle image of the comic preview at www.trekmovie.com, the artwork incorporates a graphic display created by Rick Sternbach for “Solaris” - it’s the complex circular diagram just to the right of the viewer which is showing the disintegrating planet or star:

Do we know if the TPB will be available in regular bookstores?

What's the intended demographic of the comic book? And if you don't think you're part of that group, then what are you doing here?About the comic, I have to say I'm probably far out of its intended demographic, so my opinion probably doesn't count.
Let's just say I doubt very many comic books are sold to, or aimed at 48 year-olds. If so, then I'm dead wrong.

True, but on the other hand, must they always be quoting Shakespeare, too? People swear. And, in my experience at least, the more comfortable they are around each other, the more they do so.
The dialog in M*A*S*H was pretty good, but they had to get around crusty Col. Potter's language. So, here's a sixtyish WWI cavalry man saying things like, "Bull feathers!" And, "Horse hockey!" And, "Mule fritters!" Creative. But not very realistic.

How does it go... "theft is the sincerest form of flattery"? Well, if you're going to steal, steal from the best.

I know for a fact we don't all believe that.By the way, why does it seem we all believe making the language more realistic and conversational means injecting colorful metaphors?

does anyone have any idea when this comic is going to be released? i've gone to a number of comic book stores today and not only does no one have it , nobody seems to know when it will be coming out!

Issue #1 is due in January, so to have it in stock over the next few weeks they'll have needed to have ordered it three months ago from the Diamond Orderpak. If they don't have the record of ordering it on their computer, it won't be coming in. "Star Trek: Countdown" #1 was scheduled to arrive in stores on January 14 from IDW Publishing.
The next three are due February, March and April, with the compilation omnibus in May.
I'd be making sure they plan to order the omnibus, which is probably in the current orderpak, or ask them to order back issues (reorders) of the four separate issues. The orderpack should be on their front counter. It's a thick monthly catalogue.
