Star Trek actors/actresses and their kids

EJA

Fleet Captain
It's known that a number of the cast members of Trek have children who know of their parents work on the franchise. I just wondered, what must they think when they see their parents onscreen in strange outfits and makeup, involved in bizzare situations? Do they think it's cool? Weird? Scary? Jeri Ryan has said that her young son enjoyed the times he was on the Voyager set, but I've often wondered what he thought of the character his mother played. Are there any aspects of Trek that the actors would maybe prefer their kids not to see? Personally I'd be a bit surprised if Nana Visitor allowed her children to watch her Mirror Kira episodes with the darker, more overtly sexual version of her character.

I'm sure, of course, it depended greatly on the age and maturity of the children, themselves. I know my own kids can each handle different things in different ways, so I wouldn't share certain things with one child that I might share with another.
As with all parents, I'm sure these actors don't let their kids view certain performances that are not age appropriate.
I remember an interview with Nana Visitor where she said when her son was very young all he wanted to do was examine her nose ridge. After that, he was fine with the hole thing.
And we've all seen the shot of Leonard Nimoy's son in Vulcan ears. Didn't he direct an episode of Star Trek decades later?
And William Shatner's daughters are hot.
That last bit doesn't really mean anything. I just wanted to mention that they are hot.

That detail about Nana's son is really cute.

I remember thinking Melanie Shatner looked quite nice in Star Trek V.

I don't suppose anyone knows where I can find this interview with Visitor?

Are there any other stories I should know about?

I remember Connor Trinneer saying that his young son was allowed to watch Star Trek and would point to the screen and say "Daddy" but was not allowed to watch SGA when he played the evil wrath.

One episode of TOS that I don't reckon would have been suitable for the children of William Shatner and Grace Lee Whitney to watch is The Enemy Within, due to the scene where Kirk attacks Janice in her quarters. If I'd done a scene like that and had kids, I don't think I would have let them see that.

I've seen a picture of John de Lancie's son Keegan sitting in the captain's chair on the 1701-D, and it was very cool seeing him later playing Q's son in Voyager.
