CHAPTER 0: REBIRTH OF A HERO
Hinata was relieved that Rimuru survived her attack but suddenly the holy sword given to her began to levitate. Hinata rushed towards its blade, ignorant that the blade was in fact targeting her and not the slime. Hinata was impaled through the heart. She suffered tremendous blood loss before her organs began to shut down. Death took the knight captain as her soul left her body.
Hinata awakened in complete darkness. A voice called out to Hinata from the void. Soon was shrouded in a bright light. A middle aged man appeared before her dressed in bizarre but colorful robes.
“I am Q, you may think of me as a god,” said the man.
Hinata remained silent. She clenched her fist. There is something about this being she didn’t trust.
“Oh you can forget about using Usurp or any of the Superior Spirits here; the powers of that world have no effect on me. Curious, you are human. Finding one of your species so far into the delta quadrant…”
Hinata's eyes widened as she realized she couldn’t use any of her powers, even the blessing of Luminous was gone.
“I can return you to earth, to your loving parents. Your father survived his accident at the peer and is now in a medically induced coma while your mother hasn’t given up searching for you” Q examines her expression, “You can return to your homeworld. I can even undo the years you’ve lost on Earth”
“Why? Why should I believe you? This could be an elaborate trick”
“Because…” he snaps his fingers, revealing Earth and images of her parents. Hinata approached the projected images, a tear rolls down her cheek. “I can give you back your old life. You can live with your parents, go to school, live the way your life was meant to be. No knights, no monsters, and no demon lords”
Hinata turned to the Q, “But my duties, I am a knight of the western church. I cannot turn back on my them, not now”
“It’s far too late for that. Your body has died on that world. I can only reverse time to point before your abduction. Now do you accept my offer?”
“Then I re…” With the snap of the Q’s fingers Hinata began to feel strange. Her body slowly began to shrink. She looked up at the Q and noticed he was steadily getting bigger. “What is this?” Hinata stared at her hands.
“I’m reversing time…”
Hinata began to panic as her body was rapidly changing into that of a child. Hinata’s memories were rapidly fading from her mind and she was powerless to stop it.
“Oh look, you are now just an infant but soon you’ll be reduced to an embryonic state. Oh don’t look at me with those dumb innocent eyes. I have need of you so I have sealed away most of your memories until the time had come for them to be unlocked but I have allowed your mind to remain”
Q snaps his fingers the moment Hinata was on the verge of the pre-embryonic stage. Q snaps his fingers again, the pre-embryo begins developing inside of a body. Green blood began to infuse with Hinata. Her mind was barely conscious in this state.
“Where am I? I can’t see… Wait… Who am I?” Hinata falls unconscious once more.
“How long has it been? I see a light?” Hinata opens her eyes. They sting due to the intensity of the light. The face of an elven doctor was staring down at her. She remembered seeing elves before but can’t remember where. She concentrates on the doctor’s face, she doesn’t know why but she has never seen an elf with angled eyebrows.
Hinata looked across the room. The setting didn’t match somehow. The room reminded her of a modern day hospital. But somehow it all seemed off. The elven doctor was carrying a small metal device on him. The device made a loud electronic whirring sound. Hinata’s baby instincts make her cry.
“Everything is fine, Mr. and Ms Sakaguchi. Hinata is a healthy baby girl” the doctor put up the strange device.
Hinata was given to her mother. She hesitantly looked up to see who her new birth mother was and to her surprise she looked identical to her real mom… except younger and with pointed ears and a V shaped eyebrow ridge above her normal ones.
One year later…
Hinata had gotten used to her new life. It was refreshing to see her parents being happy again. Thankfully, her father was still human but she learned her mother was an elf-like being called a Romulan. Unlike the elves of the Central World, she was an alien and she was alarmed to learn her species bleeds green blood instead of red. She also learned that this new world was Earth but in the distant future.
Things like countries had ceased to exist sometime after the mid-20th century. Japan, the United States, and many others had since unified into a single United Earth government. Though Hinata was still too young to understand, now unless she had access to a library whether digital or physical, she would have to wait a few more years before her body ages to the point of physical independence.
Four years later…
Hinata was finally admitted to school last year. Though she didn’t remember much from her past she somewhat remembers her life during the 21st century and a few scant memories of her time on the Central World.
She glances at a full body mirror. She had grown used to her new body. She of course resembled the old Hinata Sakaguchi, but like her mother she too sported Romulan features; although unlike her mother, Hinata’s Romulan second brow was less pronounced due to her human genetics. In addition, she learned that Romulans as well as Vulcans had their hearts near their lower left rib cage rather than behind the sternum.
Hinata had learned since birth that Humans weren’t the only sapient lifeforms that lived on Earth. She learned that Earth was part of an alliance called the Federation of Planets. Therefore Humans lived in harmony with several alien species; among them were the elf-like Vulcans, a dwarf-like species Tellerites, a race of bug-antennae blue skin humanoids called Andorians, a race of human-like aliens with spots called the Trill, and a black eyed human-like species called the Betazoids.
Ten years later…
Hinata was standing outside of Starfleet Academy. The golden gate bridge could be seen in the distance. There was a lot of gossip about a family of humpback whales inhabiting the San Francisco Bay. Rumor has it they are descended from a pair brought from the past, by none other than Admiral James T. Kirk.
She had to make a conscious effort to hide her romulan heritage. She grew out her bangs to hide her forehead in combination with a heavy layer of makeup applied to her forehead. She practiced her Vulcan and did her best to even act like one. Her disguise didn’t fool anyone but was relieved that there was no stigma for a Romulan to join starfleet.
Hinata inhales deeply. “Live long and prosper” she attempts to do the Vulcan salute but screws up. Damn fingers! She coldly stares at her pinky and ring fingers not doing their job. She attempted to concentrate on pushing these two fingers together but it was no use and not to mention mildly painful.
“Having trouble there, Ms. Vulcan?” a friendly energetic voice came from behind her. Hinata turned her gaze to the girl standing behind her. Dark red hair to the point of almost looking black. Bright silver eyes. A bony ridge extends down her nasal bridge. A silver medallion earpiece hangs from her right ear. She was a Bajoran, a race of human-like aliens that worship a wormhole dwelling race of energy beings called by the Bajorans the Prophets.
“Who are you?” Hinata asked in a monotone.
“I am Rose Ruby. Yes I know my name isn’t very Bajoran, I was raised here on Earth. Never even visited Bajor, hahaha”
“You too, huh?” Hinata muttered softly. “It's only logical, our parents would give us Earth names to conform to its norms”
“You can drop pretending to be a Vulcan, it's obvious that you are a Romulan” a raven haired Romulan girl with yellow eyes steps from behind Ruby.
“Cinder, where did you come?!” Ruby found herself shouting.
“You are as loud as ever,” a white haired Trill girl was standing next to Cinder.
“Weiss? You are joining Starfleet too?” Ruby then glances at her wrist watch, “By the prophets, We need to get to the entrance ceremony” Ruby grabs Hinata by the wrist before she starts pulling her towards the auditorium. The auditorium was massive inside. There was a sea of red seats filling the first, second, third, and fourth floors.
Once all new students were seated, the headmaster of the academy approached the podium, he spoke his piece about a whole lot of nothing as far as Hinata was concerned.
“Without further adieu, we have a special guest today, I present to you: Admiral Jean Luc Picard” the Headmaster initiated a round of applause. Everyone clapped in unison.
“Thank you, Headmaster Barkley. To the new Academy students, Welcome. It is my honor and pleasure to be here…” Picard trails off about the importance of Duty, what it means to be a Starfleet Officer, the importance of Humanity, and unity. “Though we may be on the brink of war with the Klingon Empire, the Orion Syndicate, and the Talshiar. We must fight to maintain peace as our primary goal” Picard droned on the importance of peace and stability in both Alpha and Beta quadrants.
Hinata listened carefully. Ruby stared at Picard wide eyed. Hinata looked over at Ruby, Hinata then chuckled quietly to herself, She has a serious case of hero-worship.
Seven months later…
Hinata was receiving a lecture about how to deal with a psychic entity. While the Professor was only half-betazoid, she could still read emotions and so Professor Troi would always tease Hinata wore her emotions on her sleeves.
Hinata was trained in engineering, security, science, and medical. She quickly found out that while she enjoyed security, she found her calling in Science. While she did so-so in engineering, she didn’t make the cut.
Five years later…
