I think Bill did and Clara

It’s clearly habit forming.

Let’s hope ‘handing over people to nazis’ isn’t. Because I am fast running out of giving a shit about this Doctor. By which I mainly mean the twat writing these stories. By which I mean recycling other bits already for a season opener.

He’s got out of worse. The Doctor took a chance.

The blonde haired Doctor outright refers to him as not look aryan, before letting the Nazis see this and having set him up to look like a British agent.
I don’t think the problem is whether the master got out of worse.

He's got his regular non technological hypnosis.

As long as no one took his eyes and cut out his tongue, he should be fine, if he can get one of them storm troopers alone.

Worth mentioning of course that the vast majority of Nazis didn't look particularly Aryan, and there were Indian SS troops if anything the Doctor may have given him a get out. She outed him as an Allied spy but when the SS arrive presumably they'll go "You're not General Schmidt?"

Which is perfectly true *but* they leant on it by having her earlier aryan line. They should have cut that.

My googling didn't reveal any definitive policy against Asians, but there's a quote from Hitler where he says that he likes the worst homeless hindu above the British, which sounds like neither makes it out as valued.

But if there is no exact policy, then he master should have been safe, although, if they mistook him for a Mexican, they fought for the Kaiser in WWI... Although they didn't declare war on Germany until 1942... When was Spyfall set?

1943.

So, he'll be seen as a spy, whether he's identified as Mexican or Indian, unless his perfect German can convince anyone that he's French?

Well, that certainly destroys a few jokes I've been hearing the past few days about the Master dressed up as a Nazi is an example of "Modern television: even Nazis are woke."

Someone else had posted that link on Twitter to be fair, wasn't something I was aware of (though I knew there were SS units formed out of Allied POWs). I mean the Nazis were all about expediency, the Japanese aren't exactly Aryan exemplars after all!

I'll admit, at the very moment I first saw the Master wearing a Nazi uniform I laughed at the absurdity of someone clearly non-Aryan dressed like a Nazi and commanding Nazis. But afterwards, upon further reflection I remembered Hitler was a situational ethics sort of guy who would not hesitate at committing hypocrisy if it meant victory, or at least an advantage, so I had an easier time accepting the idea of an Indian Nazi officer. Though learning of the Indian SS troops is certainly interesting.

"Aryan" originally meant people from around India and Persia (the name "Iran" comes from "aryan," after the Shah at the time of what was then known as Persia requested other countries refer to them by the name of the people, not the land), though it was adopted as referring to nordic-looking people in the 1800s due to some truly atrocious race-science (but, then, I repeat myself), which is what the Nazis built on. I heard from people who keep an eye on such things that some of the Neo-Nazi groups were very upset by the recent confrontations between the US and Iran, because Donald Trump was attacking fellow aryans instead of the races he's supposed to hate.

My girlfriend saw this today, and asked how exactly was this a festive episode. I told her its not, it was only released on New Year's Day. She then said "that Chibnall ashhole".

She's a big Cartmel fan, and all because of me, I'm afraid.
