I am, of course, referencing the most recent rumors circulating all over the internet. * / **

Click here to follow the rumor back to its source.

So, it seems pretty obvious to me that Zachary Quinto is gay. (Not that there is anything wrong with that.)

To be fair, I am willing to be proven wrong. Until then, I must asume that he is gay.

As for the burden of proof, it is on you.

And for the standard?

Let's go with by a preponderance of the evidence. Clear and convincing is too high, and probable cause is too low.

And while the evidence is coming in, let's get to the poll.

I have been thinking about Spock's poll all day, and I know I'm not alone.

Actually since YOU are the one claiming something over and above what is known, the burden of proof is on you...

Not at all.

Unless you are assuming that we must default assume that someone is heterosexual until proven otherwise.

I would hope that you are not that prejudiced.

There is nothing wrong with assuming that someone is homosexual until proven heterosexual. It's enlightened, even.

I'm almost heroic, if you think about it. Maybe I'll run for President.

1st, I would asume heterosexuality because of evidence on screen, ie: predilection for Spock being interested in females ("Cloudminders", "Enterprise Incident", "This Side of Paradise","Amok Time"), secondly, I would also assume heterosexuality because 90-95% of human males are hetereo...and Vulcans show no signs of being different. In fact screen evidence shows 100% at this point. And no, basing my opinion on the preponderance of evidence is not prejudiced. I'm happy to modify my opinion based on the facts, which of course, you have none.

I was talking about Quinto, not Spock. Pay attention.

The poll is about Spock. We'll know Spock's sexuality when the poll is complete.

Given the nature of pon farr, I'm not sure how possible a gay Vulcan is, so to be on the safe side I voted Half Straight Vulcan / Half Gay Human.

FWIW IIRC correctly there is a gay vulcan in one of Peter David's Star Trek - New Frontier novels.

So Sulu won't be gay, but Spock will ?

What kind of upsidedown universe am I in now ?

How did I get here too ?

Why does this sexual orientation thing always have to come out? Who cares if Quinto is gay? As for Spock - if its not indicated in the show he's gay, then he isn't. All this slash garbage is the invention of female fan fic writers who are too gutless to write a credible female love interest for either man for fear of being called a Mary Sue.

You are, of course, correct.

I don't know what I was thinking.

Let's get back to the important issues already in progress, like whether I'm going to buy popcorn at the concession stand or which day I will see the movie on.

My apologies.

Yea...one of these days were gonna have to get away from worrying about what people do in their bleedin bedrooms. . .

Translation: If you like having a sore butt, so be it...that's your business. We do not need to focus on it.

Humans, please, please grow the hell up :bolian:

Edit: Oh and another thing..."Blood and Fire" will be tactfully "missed" here in my castle. I really could care less about "orientation" in the 23rd/24th centuries. I dont have time for it.

I've always kind of assumed Kirk/Spock had a secret love that nobody knew about. I quote from Star Trek: The Motion Picture. "Bones, we need him. I need him." ;)

Well with what we've heard about the filmmakers... instead of just having a gay Spock... they'd have a whole 2 hour plot involving Andorians going back in time to work andorian magic on Spock's mother while SPock is still in the womb, making him gay and making an alternate timeline so they can have Spock be gay and not violate canon! instead of, you know, just doing the Gay Spock storyline.

I disagree. I think that it has to do with the friendships of men who have served in any kind of military action, or even in a situation where one's life is in another's hands on a day to day basis. I think that when you have to share a foxhole, or go into a burning building, or even a cop car, there's a certain kind of trust that must be shared and after while it can be the difference between life and death.

Kirk had just come off polishing a desk for two years, I always took that to me that he was a little shaky going back in. He rammed getting Enterprise back down Nogura's throat and after Decker's comments about his not knowing Enterprise well enough, the man needed Spock's balance to help him figure V'ger out. The Earth was under threat, he wanted that balance to beat the bad guy.

It never ceases to amaze me that some people can stroll into a thread as obviously ridiculous as this one, stroll past forty equally ridiculous responses, and still find a way to take the whole thing seriously.

Then again, that phenomenon is the only thing that keeps me coming back, so good times.

Then perhaps...ridiculous threads such as this...should remain in the ridiculous subroutines of our minds so we can focus on what is REALLY wrong! :bolian:

Of course he will -- it's canon. Don't forget the Lost Gay Episode!

:vulcan:

That's strange, it ends differently than the version I have. In mine, Scotty bursts in at the end.

Someday, when I have all of TOS on DVD, I'm going to painstakingly remaster that.

And also there is T'Prynn in the Vanguard books. Hot and heavy lesbo action with a red-headed Klingon chick surgically altered to look human.

I know what the motive is, but gutlessness ain't it. :D

Next thing you know, they'll be claiming the Enterprise is gay.

There's an excellent "Docking commenced, Captain" joke to be had here, but I can't quite get the bat off my shoulder...

You mean it's not because boys on boys = hot to straight females? Shit, now I'm going to have to come up with another thesis subject when I go back to school...
