Spock Will Be Gay in Star Trek XI!

With a gay Spock, Nurse Chapel's unrequited love for the Vulcan is imbued with an even deeper level of pathos.

Nah, I think if Spock were straight, which of course he is, it's a much bigger rejection! He likes women, he just doesn't like Chapel because let's face it, she's kinda gross.
No doubt about that. J.J. Abrams should hire an attractive actress to play Nurse Chapel.

No. I say cast Cameron Manheim...a heavyset Chapel, brunette too. That way, in TOS proper, we learn that Chapel met Spock, fell in love, and had lots and lots of work done and STILL couldn't get a date with him!

I voted "other". Leave his coming out for ST:12. In this movie, just have him be sexually conflicted.

^^ Oh yes. But still it should be just a man-crush on Kirk, you know, that my-feelings-confuse-me kind of thing. Turn the movie into Roswell.

um, not to lump myself with the scores of homophobes in trekdom, but no.

Check out how he leers at Rand in "enemy within."

no offense to the original poster, but discussions like this are stupid. He is an actor, a professional. I don't even see Spock's sexual preference being addressed in the new movie. It's like the same stupid discussions on Heath Ledger playing the Joker in The Dark Knight. "He previously played a gay character so that must mean Joker and/or Batman will be gay in the new movie." That is stupid. I don't mean to offend anyone, just giving my opinion.

Cogley started the thread as a joke. Some are taking it seriously, and others are playing along. Choose whichever, in the end it's all for fun anyway. :bolian:

Dammit, Cogley, you left off the option for "Half Vulcan, half gay and bifurcated" -- what's up with that?

Why can't Kirk be gay too? I think the crew should all be gay except for Sulu who should be a heterosexual.

Of course gay sex would be kind of difficult for Spock since he wouldn't be able to get past the illogic of entering an exit. :rommie:
Oh, no you didn't. :alienblush:

:guffaw:

Anyway, it all comes down to this line from TWOK:

Spock:Mr. Sulu. You may... indulge yourself.
Sulu: Yes, SIR!

To which my response time and time again has been:

"On the FRIGGIN' bridge?!" :wtf:

Given the nature of pon farr, I'm not sure how possible a gay Vulcan is, so to be on the safe side I voted Half Straight Vulcan / Half Gay Human.

A violent animalistic sexual urge is required to promote reproduction after children are telepathically bonded at an incredibly young age and an arranged marriage is sorted out by the parents... Sounds like a planet fighting it's own overwhelming queerness that regular individuals can't be trusted to boink till babies pop out that mother nature and societal forces have to work in tandem like that.

Given the nature of pon farr, I'm not sure how possible a gay Vulcan is

I tried to resist, but you leave me no choice:

This explains it all.

Warning, NOT work safe. Proceed with utmost caution. :D

..and make sure to read the comments below, they're the best part:

"This video actually makes me WANT to watch Star Trek."

"Wow, just wow at some of the comments. Star Trek is a show. Just keep repeating that to yourself until you no longer feel like you must defend it like it's the new Bill of Rights." :rommie:

I am, of course, referencing the most recent rumors circulating all over the internet. * / **

Click here to follow the rumor back to its source.

So, it seems pretty obvious to me that Zachary Quinto is gay. (Not that there is anything wrong with that.)

To be fair, I am willing to be proven wrong. Until then, I must asume that he is gay.

As for the burden of proof, it is on you.

And for the standard?

Let's go with by a preponderance of the evidence. Clear and convincing is too high, and probable cause is too low.

And while the evidence is coming in, let's get to the poll.

I have been thinking about Spock's poll all day, and I know I'm not alone.

Actually since YOU are the one claiming something over and above what is known, the burden of proof is on you...

Not at all.

Unless you are assuming that we must default assume that someone is heterosexual until proven otherwise.

I would hope that you are not that prejudiced.

There is nothing wrong with assuming that someone is homosexual until proven heterosexual. It's enlightened, even.

I'm almost heroic, if you think about it. Maybe I'll run for President.

1st, I would asume heterosexuality because of evidence on screen, ie: predilection for Spock being interested in females ("Cloudminders", "Enterprise Incident", "This Side of Paradise","Amok Time"), secondly, I would also assume heterosexuality because 90-95% of human males are hetereo...and Vulcans show no signs of being different. In fact screen evidence shows 100% at this point. And no, basing my opinion on the preponderance of evidence is not prejudiced. I'm happy to modify my opinion based on the facts, which of course, you have none.
