Spock confirmed for S2

And CBS is desperate to drive up subscriptions.

I think the new Disney streaming service may deal them a crippling blow if they don't build a loyal subscription base now, that won't cancel out.

I'm certain we'll get Kirk by S3, as long as there are no conflicts with Paramount.

Burnham as the Captain, and Kirk as the First Officer, I can see it now...

Yeah, I think so. He is 41. Spock should only be roughly 30 at this point. Plus, this show already has problems with people confusing it with the Abrams films. They need to come up with someone else to play Spock.

I dunno, looking at a picture of Spock from 2254 and Quinto from 2018:

Honestly, I think that Quinto even looks a bit younger than Spock, but still in the right age-range to play him. That being said I would prefer a new actor, for the reason you already mentioned.

Smoking and heavy makeup tended to make actors look older than they actually were back then.

Given that the season is well into production, and we've had no casting announcement on Spock....I can only draw the following conclusions as possibilities :

1. It is Quinto, and they are keeping it a secret
2. It is not Quinto, and they are keeping it a secret.

They wouldn't be able to do it convincingly on their budget.

Frakes said his first episode (Episode 2) featured a Young Spock, but I believe he meant in flashbacks.

I'm not looking for a Pike show, but generally speaking, I'd rather watch a well-formed crew act like professionals than a new crew trying to grow into proficient heroes. The story of their growth is the unnecessary Origin Story of their more interesting later stories. There's a reason Origin Stories are nearly universally hated: there's a reason it was Backstory.

Yep, the further you go from established PrimeTimelineEras, the less it matters that it doesn't link up perfectly.

There is nothing at this phase of the franchise I would have found more dull and repetitive than the standard "well-formed crew" format. I'd rather see a journey and earn that outcome than start at the destination. It's one of the things "Orville" got really right. To hell with these perfect, "best of the best" crews.

Maybe they've cloned Nimoy! :shifty:

Season arc- "the pitfalls and benefits of CLOOOOONING!!!!"
