Actually, that's the best part. For the first time ever, Uhura finally got to be the female lead in a STAR TREK movie, instead of playing second fiddle to Ilia, Saavik, Carol Marcus, Gillian Armstrong, Valeris, Iman, etc.
After sitting patiently in the background for 43 years, it's about time Uhura got her moment in the sun!
Given that they had reintroduce the entire original cast, I'm glad they didn't try to squeeze in some brand-new love interest--especially when Uhura was sitting right there.
she needs to be on the bridge doin her thang...not down Spocks pants and this is where they could of introduced someone "new" into the mix. .
