After the dust settles from the merger fiasco, I could see Skydance+ giving this a green light.

Nah. I'd prefer Phase II set after TMP. I don't trust them to stick to the technological and canonical restrictions of another pre-TOS series and post TMP looks more like where they are at in terms of visuals. Plus I would love to see Sulu, Chekov, and Rand, even if only as semi-regulars like Sam, Kirk, or Pelia.

Nah, if they're going to do something on the Enterprise around this period I'd rather see a Captain Spock series between TMP and TWOK. Though I will say at this point they can do 4 8-episode seasons and still say it's the first year of the 5-year mission.

I also don't like the whole "we had this cool idea... so we want you guys to tell Paramount that's what you want." If you're going to encourage fans to make requests, just let them decide what they want to see,

It took me a second to get that one. I mean before it became a training ship, though I guess it was never confirmed that he commanded it as a regular ship.

I don't take that line of dialogue as an absolute, but it certainly infers that he's only commanded it as a training vessel.

I'm not really interested in seeing yet another pre-TOS "beginnings" show. We're getting that with SNW -- all the players are slowly coming together and growing into themselves (Scotty not much of a drinker? We'll see!). I'd prefer to see them do post-TOS S3 through TMP era, though that would require an overhaul/refit of the bridge set!

I don't have a problem with SNW ending with Kirk taking command. But I don't really see the need to cram another show into the gap. Would the big finale of Year One be Kirk asking Spock if he'd like to play some 3D chess?
