You always go into a negotiation asking for more than you're willing to accept. That's basic stuff.

    Every car salesman knows this.

    And so do you. :techman:

The timeline given in reports was contradictory to begin with. The same source that broke the 50% claim turned around a few days later and said Disney was originally asking for 30% and upped their demands to 50 after Sony refused, which makes no sense. And other sources (then and now) claimed Disney's original proposal was 25% and the whole 50% story was total bs, just like the "Feige doesn't have time" story.

We don't actually know what happened.

"Right! This calls for immediate discussion!"
... Or, should he have said, further discussion. :p

Seriously. Neither side got totally pwned, and a mutually beneficial relationship continues. It's okay to leave it there.

It makes sense to move Spidey in a direction that makes him comfortable amongst the other Sony properties, but that wouldn't rule out further MCU appearances.

The key quote, "Feige seems to be plotting an endgame that will wrap up Peter Parker's story in the MCU..." is wholly supposition. That said, if it turns out to be true, I'm fine with that. :)

A lot could happen between then and now. Suppose Venom 2 flops, for instance. Anyone else remember Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows? Novelty can only take a franchise so far... Let's maybe take things one year or two at a time?

Would it be to on the nose if they do one more Spider-Man movie in the MCU and then In Doctor Strange Spidey literally moves to a parallel universe at the end?

I would say that all bets are off regarding speculations beyond what has been stated. It seems that the companies never ended negotiations and would presumably continue their agreement to work together as long as it is mutually profitable.

Indeed - no need to be pessimistic, this is all good news.

With Ike Perlmutter being removed from the MCU TV shows too, things appear to be going well enough !

I would hope that our laws against monopolies would kick in to prevent that travesty from happening.

I wish 90 percent of the franchise-writers would realize this.

Not even after Maguire's ''dancing'' in his Venom stage. Death, taxes, another Spidey movie. All good, minus the dancing.

Strange 2 is May 2021. Spidey 3 is now set for July 2021. They'd be showing the story out of order for no particular reason - which isn't impossible, but I doubt they'd do it.

Given that Strange 2 is already going to feature another established MCU character (presumably) in a major plot role, it's seems a bit of a waste to choose that movie to spend their (potentially) final non-solo Spidey appearance.
An Avengers movies seems way more likely since he's the only member left on Earth that we know for a fact is still active.
