Space Battleship Yamato 2205

The hope on my end is that Bandaid does the smaller kits. Both 1/1000 scale and the mechacolle kits.

I thought they already did. I was at a hobby store a couple of years ago and they had a whole shelf dedicated to the smaller kits from 2199 to 2202. I was really tempted to buy the Andromeda, but the price to size ratio put me off.

There was a prototype of the 1/1000 scale patrol cruiser and frigate as a Yamato 2202 Earth set that was shown off just before COVID hit. Other than that, there are the old model kits from the 1970s/80s still floating around.

There will be a subscription based gimmick 1/350 scale model of the Earth Patrol Cruiser starting in April prior to the release of Rebel 3199. 50 issues.

This particular ship is names Pacific. No idea yet why this ship rates such a kit. But we will likely find out. Best guess this is Kodai's command while Yamato is in refit

I wonder how difficult these are to build if you can read Japanese?

A recolor 1/1000th scale model kit of the Asuka will be coming out in July with extra parts and decals to make it into any one of seven ships of the class.
Asuka DAOE-01
Vancouver 02
Oumi 03
Mamiya 04
Elbas 05
Amunsen 06
Colossus 08

DAOE-07 is currently a mystery.

Some are support ships and some are assault ships.

I've noticed that the "Prince of Wales", "Bismarck", and "Arizona" aren't included on the Mechanic page. We saw the bow of the Arizona teased in one of the previous production sketches; are they withholding her reveal, and the others, until later?

I imagine that would be hype for later chapters. The first chapter is just the first two episodes and should be up to Yamato's launch.

If 2199/2202 pattern suggests anything, a dub could be announced around the halfway point of Rebel3199 for 2205/3199. But that is speculation on my part.

Well hopefully it doesn't end up like the original's dub where they just didn't include this part and had to change things to get around that.

You know, something I didn't understand then and don't understand now. The over/under Wave Motion Gun on the automated battleships. It looks awkward and I don't get how the wave motion energy is supposed to travel from the engine to the barrels. We never got to see them in action in the original 'Be Forever Yamato'. I've tried picturing the barrels on the horizontal rather than the vertical and it almost works if you bring the barrels in closer to the bow rather than spaced out like they currently are.

Well, hopefully this time we will see them used. We still aren't clear just what size these ships are now, as the Mecha page doesn't have a length for Gladiator or Ajax.

Maybe it is to give an external target for the enemy, so that they could destroy a wave motion gun without seriously hulling the ship. Most other Earth ships such damage would leave a massive breach in the ship's bow.

I may have mentioned this before, but I remember when it first aired here in Seattle. It was on KSTW Channel 11 and it aired twice a day. The first series aired at 7am just before we went to school. The second series aired at 4pm, right after we got home from school.

Yep, I saw it in the DC area when it came out in, I think it was 1979 (as the Americanized "Star Blazers", of course).

I had no idea until much later that Casey Kasem voiced Captain Avatar (as well as many other cartoon characters back in the day - almost as prolific as Mel Blanc), but was never credited because it was a non-union gig. IMDB still doesn't give him credit for it, which I think is bullshit, but whatevs...

I had now idea that he voiced Avatar. Will have to dig out my old dvd's and listen.

He has a very gravelly voice compared to his other voices he's done (Robin, Shaggy, Mark from Battle of the Planets, etc.), but the core tone is definitely there.
