Re: Something trek-related you can't STAND to EVER SEE AGAIN

How about working, working, and working and not once saying, "Excuse me, I got to use the bathroom"?

Re: Something trek-related you can't STAND to EVER SEE AGAIN

^^That's what gets me about the gay threads...trek hasn't even showed a toilet in 40 years-then people wonder why we haven't seen any gay folks yet. ;)

Re: Something trek-related you can't STAND to EVER SEE AGAIN

Phlox's toenails period.

Re: Something trek-related you can't STAND to EVER SEE AGAIN

Adding a random name to a regular product to make it seem "sci-fi."

Eg: Saurian-brandy
Crankorian-chocolate
Fliptosian-Tater-Tots

It's like people walking around saying, May I have some Iowan-cheese, Wisconsinian-bread, New Yorkian-Apples, and a glass of Californian-wine? AAAARRRGGHHH!!!

I know, I know... This is the face of addiction friends.

Re: Something trek-related you can't STAND to EVER SEE AGAIN

I've been rewatching TNG lately - so here's a few more things I'd like to add :D:

- "Romantic" scenes where e.g. Riker is flirting with a woman he's just met - juck!

- Scenes with Alexander

- Most scenes with Counselor Troi - ugh!

The Best of Both...

...Enterprise and Voyager are the only things I'd rewatch from those shows.

TNG: "Shades of Grey"
VOY: "Threshold"
VOY: "Alice"
VOY: "Fair Haven"
VOY: "Spirit Folk"
VOY: "The Fight"
VOY: "Friendship One" - The other episodes listed are bad ideas, or poorly written. This has no place in the Trek universe. In the end, the point is that exploration is not worth the risk of lost lives. EXCUSE ME! Yes, it's unfortunate the people lose their lives during scientific expeditions. But don't tell it's better for us to be mindless flowers just taking whatever nature throws at us, instead of trying to grow beyond what we are, at any cost, for the ultimate goal of knowing and doing all.

William Shatner singing "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds." :wtf:

Re: Something trek-related you can't STAND to EVER SEE AGAIN

hologram characters-WTF horrible

holodecks - ok when 1st created, in the hands of B&B they became the endall-beall of the show, horrible for story telling

replicators-great idea in theory by gr, and he limited there use greatly, but give to much thought and time they destroyed basic story telling on tng - my God if you can replicate anything, even complex 24th century computer equip i mean why do anything but sit back and replicate all day long and never leave the house - again horrible for story telling and way over used by B&B

and must of all.... B&B themselves just awful

Re: Something trek-related you can't STAND to EVER SEE AGAIN

ST I(Too long) - II(overrated)
ST III - defeats spock's death
Temportal reset
ST V-Why does god need with a starship, nuff said
Temporal Cold war- cool plot idea, poorly excueted
Nemesis- villian should have been Q or played by stewart to extreme Kirk being the villian

Re: Something trek-related you can't STAND to EVER SEE AGAIN

* Any and all episodes "featuring" Ferengi, especially Quark (who is to me as Wesley and Neelix are to so many others - only more so).
* The TOS episodes "Turnabout Intruder" and "The Way to Eden".
* The TNG episodes "Genesis" and "Sub Rosa".
* The Voyager episodes "Fair Haven" and "Spirit Folk".
* TFF.
* Nemesis.

But if you're drinking wine from France, you WOULD say "french wine", wouldn't you? Just nitpicking though ... :D

I don't think qualifying what kind of food or drink one serves makes its name "sci-fi". Just seems sensible...

PICARD: Care for some brandy, Admiral?

NECHAYEV: Why I love brandy. Thank-you, Captain.

PICARD hands NECHAYEV a glass. She sips and suddenly falls to the floor wretching.

PICARD: Perhaps I should have specified that this is Saurian brandy. Unlike its Terran namesake it tastes somewhat like like kerosene and clams. Perhaps you would prefer an Ale...

-The Motion Picture. One of the most expensive yawn fests ever

-Voyager
-S1-3 of Enterprise
-Season 1,2 and 7 of TNG

* Overuse of Transporters and sometimes Replicators. I can't stand watching people pretend to struggle with a problem for 45 minutes when the whole time I know the solution will be "Use the Transporter".

* If you're alone in a strange part of the galaxy, you should run out of stuff. At the very least, Janeway should be complaining about having no creamer for her coffee.

* How many times can the holodeck try to kill you before you disable them? C'mon, guys even I'm that smart. If the holodeck is broken, shut it down -- it's so simple even the teenagers working at Six Flags can figure it out.

* Stories that hit you over the head with the message. Yes, anti-drug TNG episode, I'm looking at you. I can figure out that drugs are evil if you would have shown me the effects of addiction. Show me aliens ready to kill for the drug, and that gets the message across. Having Tasha preach at Wesley about how all drugs are teh eeevil just makes me think that you're writing for retards.

* Can we have a better reason for making a dicision than "Starfleet doesn't do that" or "We're Starfleet Officers Dammit!"? Maybe have someone disagree with Starfleet on something? Are they brainwashed or something? Are they incapable of reasoning beyond the Starfleet Code of Nonassholery? I agree with the SCNA for the most part, but most intelligent people are capable of moral reasoning beyond "My Boss Says it's Baaaad."

Re: Something trek-related you can't STAND to EVER SEE AGAIN

Star Trek: Voyager (The entire series)

Star Trek V: The Final Frotier

TOS: And The Children Shall Lead (Hail, hail fire and snow, this TOS episode has got to GO!)

TNG's first two seasons.

TNG: The Inner Light (Over-rated snooze fest with plotholes you could guide a planet through).

TNG: Rascals - Oh joy, Picard is now a stuffy 10 year old; and Riker can't outfight 3 Ferengi in third rate BoP's :brickwall:

DS9: Avery Brooks chewing scenery and speaking like he can't catch his breath to save his life. Pregnant pauses worked for William Shatner; but not fopr Brooks (imo).

There's more, but I'd get carpal tunnel. ;)
I don't know why TNG season 2 gets lumped in with 1. Take out a few overtly silly eps, and it's my favorite season, with many greats, and it's the only season where Riker has a personality...
