I've got everything by Thompson I could find, and a few by Cain. (Double Indemnity is in my all-time top 10 fave movies.) Have you read any David Goodis?

I just finished The Last Days of Krypton by Kevin J. Anderson. It was surprisingly enjoyable. I'm planning to read his Batman/Superman: Enemies and Allies next.

I'm reading my first work of fiction in many years right now. Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. I'm almost at the tea party. This book has been sitting on my shelf unread for years.

Uh oh! Page 47??!!!??

Since my last posting who knows how long ago, I've picked up the new Vanguard novel, Open Secrets. I usually read novels a chapter or so at night before snoozeville. So far, it's been very good.

Still, it is funny how we sometimes picture the characters. At first, I thought Reyes was stout and on the short side, but I've read the descriptions and had to toss that out the window.

That's it. There is no more. I'm done...

Actually, I'm not done. I picked up the novelization of Trek XI because I understand it has things that fell to the cutting room floor. One of the big ones is what keeps Nero and his crew from taking over the known universe for 25 years. Apparently, some lines from the book didn't make it to the theaters, including the Klingons' involvement by keeping Nero and/or his crew in prison for two and a half decades.

I hope this makes sense because it would be odd that the Klingons can handle Nero but the Federation can't. I also understand this will be explored in an upcoming comics mini-series entitled "Nero" coming from IDW Publishing.

Just finished rereading Jurassic Park, and now want to reread The Lost World but can't find my copy! I love Crichton's style. He gets across a lot of info with the minimal amount of words. Not a single word is wasted.

It's great picking up classic children's Lit. I read the Wizard of Oz for the first time this year, and decided that my daughter must hear it.

Sounds interesting. I looked him up on wiki today- didn't know he wrote Dark Passage (I love the movie). I'll keep an eye out for his stuff, though I must admit I've never actually seen any on UK shelves, that I can remember.

I just finished Superman/Batman: Enemies and Allies. It wasn't as good as The Last Days of Krypton, but I thought it was a decent (if short) book. I'm still trying to figure out which book is next on my reading list...probably something star trek-related...

Sounds interesting. I looked him up on wiki today- didn't know he wrote Dark Passage (I love the movie).

Arguably the weakest of the four Bogart/Bacall movies, but that's still pretty damn good. Not typical of his later style, though.

I'll keep an eye out for his stuff, though I must admit I've never actually seen any on UK shelves, that I can remember.

The last few books of his that I've found were published by Serpent's Tail, which is based in the UK. They appear to have four of his books in print. Black Friday and Selected Stories is a good place to start.

Well, I just bought a copy of Mission Gamma: Cathedral for $3.50 on Amazon (there are several others around the same price), so it looks like I'll be reading it when I get done with This Gray Spirit. Since TGS is turning out to be a such a slow read I'll probably get it before I'm done with Cathedral.

After the brief hardboiled/noir spree, the Dr Who PDA Illegal Alien by Tucker and Perry. I've read it when it first came out, but never had my own copy, so I grabbed a near-mint one for 50p in a charity shop last week.

Just finished Voyager #4 "Violations" A very slow developing story full of "Treknobabble" Didn't really get good until the last few chapters.
Not sure what to read next.

I'm currently slogging through a borrow from my best friend. She wanted me to read one of her favorite books, Ancient Promises, by Jaishree Misra. Indian teenager falls in love with a guy, he moves away, she accepts an arranged marriage, it's miserable, she has a metally handicapped child, she plots to run away, then meets her teen-years sweetheart again and things get rekindled. Best friend is simply trying to enlighten me a bit more as to why she's insane.

Also reading TNG relaunch book Resistance. Enjoying it for the most part.

I just startred Troublesome Minds by Dave Galanter.What I really like so far is the new alien race is really interesting.And that one of the aliens so fascinated with Spock and Vulcans in general.
