Full Dark, No Stars - 3/5 stars
If this were any other author, I'd say this is a 4 star effort, but since I hold King to a higher standard, I'll have to rate this as merely "3 stars". Full Dark, No Stars is another collection of short stories much like Four Past Midnight. As with Four Past Midnight, there are 4 stories here, one which was very good, one which was good and 2 which were just fair. 1922 was clearly his best and most different effort and was a pretty compelling read. While it wasn't perfect, it was quite enjoyable and memorable.
Big Driver was fair at best. Nothing that hasn't been done before and better. A Good Marriage was a nice step back in the right direction though wasn't incredibly original either. Still, a good marriage was a very thought-provoking read, especially if you've been married a long time. Finally, A Fair Extension felt like leftovers from his Derry, Maine/Needful Things/IT era which was "fair" indeed.
All in all I'd recommend it for any Constant reader, but it doesn't represent his best works.
