So.. W13 and Eureka returning in July, anyone going to watch?

I've been itching to see the new season of W13, can't wait.
I saw Eureka off and on but it never stayed with me.

I'm a big fan of Eureka but a little disappointed in the consistency from season to season. I'm also a bit concerned about the trailers for the new season. They're making it seem like they're going to be doing some more tweaking.

I also read that there is going to be a crossover with Warehouse.

I'm not saying I wouldn't be happier if there were no product placement at all. But it's increasingly unavoidable these days, and the Season of Deodorant Ads was the worst I've ever seen.
Actually, I'd be quite happy with product placement if it reduced the time for actual commercials. Hour-long shows used to be almost ten minutes longer than they are now (I was just watching the Route 66 Season One DVD set and the difference is striking). But it makes no difference whatsoever. :(

I'll be watching both.

I miss Stark, but I figure that if the actor decides to come back, he'll "reappear" when it'll do the most damage for Carter. As for the product placement, I take it as a joke and laugh about it--there's no way it would be that intentional without meaning to be a joke. "Hey, you need to place this product in the next episode." "Okay, how can we make it blatantly obvious?"

As for W13--I enjoyed the show, even the direction it's going. Any show that has a line like, "I really like that you know what a red shirt is"--or something like that--is not so bad. And I like the "family" they've formed.

The funniest product placement ever was Avatar in Bones. That cracked me up. Too bad the movie didn't live up to the hype.

Indeed. At its best, W13 has a nice cozy feel. Heck, they live in a bed-and-breakfast and hunt magical antiques for a living.

No wonder the show is a hit!

I'm lukewarm on W13. The concept just seems a little too vague and unfocused. And the stories tend to concentrate too much on less interesting artifacts while treating the really interesting ones as side jokes.

My favorite episode is probably "Breakdown," which is chock full of inspired wackiness: killer dodgeballs, evil Silly String, "the Gooery," Sylvia Plath's angst-inducing typewriter . . . .

I enjoy both shows, so I'm looking forward to their return. I'm also hoping they bring back Jaime Ray Newman on Eureka.

Faux-Boreanaz and Little Miss Tightass are a little too quarrelsome and a little too extreme (him, doofusy and her, anal) to be charming, at least for me. But I'll try some new episodes to see if they've tweaked it a little bit.

Eureka has been tweaked a little too much. The show is way too goofy to take as serious drama, but they've insisted on ramming in some melodramatic storylines. Plus, they've messed up Jo. She was just as beautiful when she was a gun nut with a secret bizarre yen for Fargo, but much funnier, and more interesting. Getting rid of Ed Quinn and the autistic kid so there could be UST was pretty dreary. Last, Fargo may be an out there character but he's funny and downsizing his part was just a bad idea. I'll try it out again but it's just drifting away, even if Colin Ferguson is still good company in your living room.

I like the mix of real drama and pseudo-scientific exotica in Eureka. I always appreciate it when shows or movies treat the characters with respect no matter how outlandish the premise is.

They're downsizing Fargo, or they already did? They gotta have him, he's a core character to me.

Who I didn't like? Carter's sister. She comes in and is all totally into the town--which was supposed to be hard to find--like she's always been there. Knowing everyone and buddy-buddy with everyone. I suppose it could be that she was accepted so readily because she's Carter's sister, and he doesn't realize just how much everyone likes him...which he should since, when Zoe was sick, everyone in town was lined up to see her.

On the contrary, Fargo is heavily featured in the promos (there's even an unfortunate one with him naked in a Terminator pastiche), and is doing a guest spot on Warehouse 13.

It sounds like stj was giving an opinion on the course of the series to date, not revealing anything about the season to come. Although I never got the impression that Fargo's role had been "downsized." On the contrary, he's consistently gotten more attention than I would've preferred.

Though I agree that Jo's characterization has suffered badly since the first season. And I really hate Zane.

Maybe it's because I think Fargo is a hoot, but it seems that he's been downsized because 1) he rarely leads a subplot anymore 2)he's been excised from Jo's lovelife to the extent that he is not supposed to be in love with her anymore (I am convinced that any Fargo loves will be offscreen or temporary or fakeouts, where they turn out to be manipulating him or something,) and 3) the great Fargo/Larry feud has been forgotten.

I suppose an actual count of lines and scenes might show me to be wrong. But considering that subplots with Fargo are much funnier than subplots with Zane, and even Vincent, and nowadays Jo, more time for them seems like less time for him.

The only time I take Eureka as serious is when it comes to family stories (not just Carter and Zoe.) But, family reconcilation is also a comedy in the sense of happy ending.

Also, yes, I was recapping what I thought about where the series had gone so far. By the way, the Henry changes are not deleterious like the Jo changes.

I'm watching Warehouse 13,when is the date to start in July because 9-11 I'll be at Shore Leave?
