So... Transformers 2 countdown thread... too soon?

Not soon enough for me. I've been looking forward to this as well. The trailers and TV s spots all look really good, flipped through the novelization and the plot and story for the movie seem interesting, especially the ending ;) I can't wait for the 24.

How about a Transmophers 2 thread? It comes out right after Transformers 2 does.

I'm looking forward to the film and pray it's better than the first. This one seems to be taking things a little more seriously...you know, as serious as you can take transforming robots from another planet.

In terms of its relation to the first, I'm hoping for more Scorponok desert base attack and freeway fight and less peeing on things and hiding from the parents. Yeesh...there were really terrible moments in that first one.

Looking forwar to it. Even getting the prequel movie comics, which I've found enjoyable.

Unless I hear the words "considerably better than the first" in most of the reviews, I think I'll pass. Or wait until it comes to my local cheapie second-run theatre, as I might be willing to spend $3 to see it.

After the complete POS the first one was besides the robot fights I'm waiting for Transformers 2 to hit the cheap used DVD section on Family Video's website. I'm willing to pay a couple of dollars to see the pretty robot fights, but I don't want to encourage the studio and Michael Bay by directly paying them for the movie.

I found the first movie to be a great summer action popcorn flick. The script wasn't exactly brilliant and the plot had plenty of holes in it (sorry Orci & Kurtzman), but I still found it incredibly amusing and entertaining. The visual f/x work alone was outstanding. Just turn your brain off and go in to enjoy 2.5 hours of mindless robot transforming action, plus Megan Fox.

Assuming the sequel lives up to the first, I'm sure I will enjoy it on some level.

I hated the first one at first, but it has grown on me. Now I am immensely looking forward to this one. I will see it at IMAX, and will probably go deaf, as it promises to be a very loud movie :-)

I was mildly surprised by Transformers. Enough that I should probably just admit to Michael Bay films being one of my longest running guilty pleasures. I really shouldn't enjoy his films, but I often do.

This second one? I don't know. It's not grabbing me the way the trailer for the first one did. It's obviously going to try and top the first film, and I don't know if they can without looking really, really stupid.

Good to see Peter Cullen come back though. I can never get enough of that guy rocking the shit out of some Optimus Prime.

I'm looking forward to it. I think, it might be more action packed than the last one, since now they don't have to worry about setting up the characters as much and trying to be mysterious. We already know what Prime, Bumblebee and some of the others look like well enough so we don't need them to go through a whole roster call out - although with all the new bots in this movie, it would be nice, but eh... I'll even settle for their names to come up in the dialogue. Not the whole "And my first lieutenant Jazz." "Wassup bitches!" that was truly horrible.

But I'm optimistic, they've had a chance to sort of figure out what worked and what didn't, they also have the benefit of having the 'world' set up for them, so all they need to do is just get to the action, kick some ass, make it look good, and show as much of Megan Fox's ass as you can.

It actually seems like they're trying to really make this an all out battle, instead of just a few skirmishes here and there. So I'm hoping that at the end of the movie, any losses are felt hard by the audience and you have a feeling of being pumped up after it.

Just please... no more Shia and Megan making out on the hood of a car. That's what the back seat's for.

Just seeing some robots combine into one large badass robot will be worth the price of admission.

apparently Bay phoned ILM up to discuss what they were doing in 2 and said 'you're fucked!'

Devastator has something like 150,000 moving parts...

After seeing two new sequences this weekend at Botcon, I'm totally jazzed now. Until then all my geekboy excitement had been going towards Trek. It's still there, but after seeing Devastator merge and Bumblebee kicking ass I really need to see this film nownownownow!

As an old-school TF fan, I really enjoyed the first movie (in a cheesy, ID4 kind of way), but I gotta say I'm not feeling the excitement for this one at all yet.

It just looks like a lot of noise and chaos and destruction. I realize that's a Michael Bay trademark, but the first movie ALSO had quite a bit of that Spielberg sense of wonder and magic to balance things out, and I'm just not sensing any of that yet in the trailers for this movie....
