So how important is canon, then?

your point seems to be that they choose to have sex whenever, my point is that they don't. canon evidence points to them only doing it every 7 years. the difference to drunk humans losing control is that they're vulcans. did you really miss how rational, controlled, and distant vulcans are? or are you oddly ignoring that?

well... in canon, we bow to the absurd. ;)

I’ve noticed that they keep their private lives private. Anything else?

Given how Vulcans are a bunch of dogmatic liars when it comes to having emotions in the first place, I'm not sure how you could ever trust them on being honest about their sex lives.:rommie:

If the author has done their job right, entertaining.
Quite so. I would recommend Shatner's "Collison Course." Very entertaining thus far.

Obviously it doesn’t, or else you wouldn’t have a spectrum of viewpoints on the subject. You’re simply ignoring evidence that doesn’t support your view.
Precisely so.

And my main problem is categorical statements for an entire species based upon a small sampling. Spock alludes to the possibility of sex outside of the 7 year cycle but he is very much striving to be a Vulcan's Vulcan, with little room for error.

No, I don't think characters are lying; I just don't see any reason to take them as literal truth for an entire species.

This!
If Trump was kidnapped by aliens I would not take his views on 'how to treat women' as the views shared by the other 7 billion humans on the planet, OR assume the Pope's traditional Catholic views on sex and contraception is practiced and shared by all Catholics.

and you did not notice that they do say A and never say B, and still insist A is fanon and B is more likely?

list the on-screen evidence that says regular emotion-suppressing vulcans without health problems actually have sex between their pon farrs. when there's nothing there, there's nothing to ignore ;)

how many vulcans have said they don't do it, and how many have said they do? :p

when emotion and passion are suppressed, it is not a lie to say you're unemotional and dispassionate.

Shatner is a good example. according to some people here, kirk should be alive in the 24th century and hanging out with scotty and bones. why did we never see or hear from him again?

Show where it says Vulcans don’t have casual sex? Show the explicit language where a Vulcan has turned turned down sex.

Because I have no interest in the retired adventures of those characters?

Ah, so they speak for all
Vulcans? Never mind Spock's willingness to be with the Romulan commander or his comments to Droxine.

At the end of the day, you’re free to interpret things any way you like, but the shows themselves have shown Vulcans as prepped to have sex in multiple situations. Then there is the idea that the creators and IP owners do not agree with your interpretation of the material.

If you have a problem with the interpretation, you should probably take it up with them.

Maybe 4th time's the charm? XD
EMH: Tuvok, I understand. You are a Vulcan man. You have just gone without for seven years about.
KOV: Vulcan males are driven to mate once every seven years.
T'POL: On Vulcan, we mate only once every seven years.
PARIS: Ah. This wouldn't be the kind of imbalance that comes around once every seven years?

as was pointed out here before, the vulcan lady turned quark down. tuvok turned the gravity girl down. tuvok and vorik resisted a holo lady.

Because I have no interest in the retired adventures of those characters?

i see. kirk didn't appear in any new show or movie because you personally aren't interested. why did paramount and cbs listen to you? :p
if >>50% say A and <<50% say B, then A is the majority view. Flirting with an agenda was addressed before and has no immediate connection to sex.

Where’s the word sex at?

Both Enterprise and the Abrams films wanted Shatner back. Money and size of role couldn’t be agreed on.

non-procreative sex? again, pleasure requires emotion and passion. where's the logic in unemotional and distant beings going wild in bed? as i suggested before:
perhaps the important detail is that they could do it anytime, but they simply don't do it under normal circumstances. does that make more sense to y'all?

they were using mirror kirk and pre-death kirk, not resurrected kirk from the novels.

And yet your quotes are not substantial evidence. Two are quotes from humans who have limited information. Spock, Sarek, and Tuvok are all notoriously tight lipped regarding information, and even McCoy had limited medical knowledge with Spock coming out of a healing state.

And Spock indicates that he and the commander shared something more. I'm sure it was just coffee though :techman:

Nowhere which is the source of some consternation for reasons that continuously elude me.:vulcan:

sex does not equal wild and passion.

Was William Shatner supposed to be Chef or in the Mirror Universe? My memory's fuzzy on this one.
He was supposed to be mirror Kirk sent there by the tantalus device. Shatner himself didn't remember any details when I asked him about it XD

where are the quotes supporting your position then? 4 vs 0 is still kinda clear. the entire medical database (EMH) is limited? XD

And Spock indicates that he and the commander shared something more. I'm sure it was just coffee though :techman:
i read it as attraction, curiosity and a bond due to their common ancestry, nothing more.

Nowhere which is the source of some consternation for reasons that continuously elude me.:vulcan:
"mating" on my side, nothing at all on your side ;)

sex does not equal wild and passion.
ah, so you mean the mere mechanics of it? what would be the reason for doing it then, if you're an emotionally suppressed and logical and distant vulcan?

Someone isn’t married! :guffaw:

Do you require emotion and passion to masturbate?
i require desire. XD
