as for me?

thumbs up. he's definitely up there with Two, Three, Seven and Ten as my favourites.

and Matt seems as mad as his portrayal of the Doctor.

I like Smith, I like 11, I just hope he is written more consistently next season, even if it is consistent inconsistency. I simply never knew what version of 11 the writers would throw out in any given scene.

That's what I like about him. He's so wildly unpredictable and you never know quite what's going to come out of his mouth at any given time, or how he's going to react to any situation.

But that being said, he still feels like a fairly unified character to me-- no matter what, he's always extremely geeky and flamboyant and constantly bemused by the world around him. :)

I think that might be why he works so well. Unlike Eccleston or Tennant, who were clearly forcing things at times, Smith appears to be almost as weird and quirky as the character he plays.

Personally, I hope he stays 5 or 6 years.

Crap. I went and voted just like everyone else. How can I go on being a grumpy, iconoclastic curmudgeon if that nonsense keeps up?

Maybe I should change my vote to "thumbs down" just to be different from you lot.

he is a mix of the 2nd doctor, and the 1st, with some Tennant thrown in for good measure.. My one wish is that when they go to twelve he channels the spirit of the 4th and some of the 1st and 3rd..

anyways, Moffat needs to remain on staff as the director and writer.. he is the definitive scifi talent of the modern era..

I've got two issues with Smith:

1. He talks too fast, probably feeling the effects of Tennent. Slow down

2. He seemed a little too jovial this season. I kind of want to see his Darker side, or at least him being a bit more serious. I'm not saying get rid of the humor, but tone it back a tad and make his personality more well rounded.

Other than that, I really liked Smith and look forward to the Christmas Special and Season 6

Thumbs up! I still think Tennant has a slight edge but Smith is very, very close indeed. He really managed to take ownership of the character and form his very own version of the Doctor, I think. Looking forward to more.

Without a doubt, Matt Smith ties with Eccleston as my favorite Doctor. I expected him to be good. I did NOT expect him to kick the doors down and claim the role, on the spot, in his first episode. The man is on fire, and I hope he maintains the same level of energy and eccentricity into his next season. He is The Doctor. :techman:

I've only seen through 5x10, but without a doubt it's a :bolian: for sure. Eleven had me pretty much the moment he climbed out of the TARDIS in Amelia's garden.

Matt Smith completely owned the role from his very first episode. I love him as the Doctor, and I never thought I could love any Doctor as much as Tennant's. I expected to be crying for Tennant to come back, yet I find I don't miss him at all.

I think Tennant talked faster than Smith does. I can understand what Smith is saying much better.

We did see some Angry Doctor this season. I hope we see more of that too; he's so hot when he's angry.

I thought in the first few episodes he was VERY VERY Tennantish, I could see Tennant in him but without the acting ability. Last half of the season he came into his own. I don't rate him ahead of Ecclestone or Tennant as an actor, but he has still convinced a hater. Don't dig the dickey bow, but I loved the fez!

I just haven't dug Moffat's approach to nuWho which hasn't helped.....

Considering all the "He's too young and weird looking" comments beforehand, I was highly impressed with Smith. He seems to really get the role and just ran with it. And was absolutely wonderful.

Actually for me the weird stuff compensated for his age somewhat after he was announced. I remember watching the reveal show and being really quite underwhelmed until they actually showed the interview with him and he was doing strange things with his fingers and basically being decidely odd and I remember thinking "this might work if he plays the Doctor like that." :guffaw:

Even so and even though I was quite positive about him, I didn't think he'd be as good as he has been.
