SNW music

Ian, we're not the age group Enterprise was aiming for. We were already part of the audience, they didn't need to try to draw us in.

Agreed. What surprised me with "Enterprise" were a few avid TNG friends who had become very jaded by DS9 and VGR, then fell head-over-heels for ENT. Demographics can be hard to predict.

But getting a songwriter and a singer who appeal to a middle-aged audience was not going to get TPTB the new, young fans they knew the franchise needed.

And yet a Diane Warren sequel song was selected for the two very young contestants in "Australian Idol", which was very much aimed at a young audience.

If the Australian show was like the handful of American and Canadian talent shows I've seen, they did not use much music that was actually popular with younger viewers. They used a lot of bombastic ballads that were better for showing off vocal technique. Granted, I don't know many young people, but the only regular viewers of American Idol and that sort of show that I know are my parents.

I'm not usually one to properly appreciate the Alexander Courage TOS theme, but this is a huge missed opportunity if they don't re-use it, or remaster it, or whatever. I think there are several ways to include it, and having Anson Mount do the "Space, the Final Frontier" monologue in the opening is also a must for me. "Strange New Worlds" is basically TOS if it were done today, and it would be a big mistake not to use the theme that started it all.

I would love it if they took something like this as the honest inspiration:

But I also wonder how many fans would complain that it's too nostalgic/rooted in the '60s...?

EXACTLY!!! And have every episode open on the bridge after the zoom in at the end. It can be an inside joke where every show begins the same way, kinda like with the original "Powerpuff Girls" where every episode started with the narrator saying "The City of Townsville...". LOL

I would be just fine with new compositions of TOS music, as this was the music of SNW's pilot, The Cage.
That said, I REALLY like the above poster's Daft Punk suggestion...

Hell, just get Daft Punk to cover the original Alexander Courage theme. Then everyone is happy. :)

See for yourselves, in any case...

Ugh, that is just terrible.

The music of "Faith of the Heart" isn't... that bad. It's the disconnect of vocals in a Star Trek theme song that's the problem IMO.

On the other, the "In a Mirror, Darkly" theme is pretty good, and the "Archer's Theme" outro would have been at least as good a choice as a "no vocals" version of "Faith of the Heart".

YMMV.

Archer's Theme was originally intended to be the theme song. It matches perfectly with the visuals timing. Then it got displaced.

BTW, I second the appreciation for that Daft Punk song. I would enjoy having something like that as a SNW theme. Reminds me of the riff in the Stranger Things theme that harkens all the way back to "Big Trouble in Little China".

Another vote for no "Kyrie."

Oh, that song.

No. Just ... no. It's just a bad 80s flashback.

And I like "Faith of the Heart."

Now "2,000 Light Years from Home"? Yes.
