SNW is the best (new) Trek since DS9

F.A.N.G. was that new character in Street Fighter 5 who replaced Sagat presumably because Capcom knew word was getting out that Capcom had ripped off Sagat's name and Muay Thai martial arts skills from a real person without compensating him for it.

Prodigy was fantastic. Lower Decks was a lot of fun.

Strange New Worlds is fine... but it's never gotten out of second gear. And I don't think it ever will.

I like Strange New Worlds a lot, I count myself a huge fan of the show. I think at this point the only thing keeping SNW out of the top rank of Star Trek shows for me is that it doesn't really have any truly classic episodes of television. Like, it has some fantastic Star Trek episodes, that do Star Trek things really well. But it doesn't quite have a "Duet," a "The Visitor," a "City on the Edge of Forever" or a "Measure of a Man" (though it did try to do its own version of "Measure of a Man")--i.e. an episode that really demonstrates the extend of what is possible with science fiction storytelling on TV. I don't know if any of the streaming era Treks have done that yet.

But that is my subjective take, others may disagree--and if someone thinks I'm wrong, please point me to the episode(s) I may not have appreciated enough!

No. I meant the question posed by this thread/the OP: Which of the new Trek shows is the best since Deep Space Nine?

I'm not quite sure that was the OP's intent, but consider the source.

Anyway, the only show of the five CBSTrek shows that I really liked better than Berman Trek was Prodigy. Is it better than DS9? I don't think so. But it's definitely a good show.

It's definitely my favorite of the live-action streaming shows, but I think the second season of Prodigy actually puts it ahead of this one for me.

Also, I remain a steadfast Enterprise fan

It would be a hard choice between SNW and DS9, but if I had to choose, it would be DS9. I love the comedy stuff in both shows, but balanced out, DS9 did more serious stuff along the way, and ofcourse it was the first Star Trek doing an arc over a few seasons, while still remaining episodic.
Mostly, with DS9, I am more invested in the characters, but that's not really fair because when you look at it, we've only had a old school seasons of episodes for SNW, just hit 24. So we have not been able to go as deep as DS9 and other Trek had a chance of doing.
Not saying there isn't character work and development in SNW, but it seems DS9 did more with them.

What is mostly important for me, is that SNW is fun, exciting, engaging. I am always looking forward to the next episode.

My love for ENT is well-documented on this board, but yes. SNW is the best Trek of any kind in at least 20 years, or for me - at bare minimum - since DS9.
