Smallville's series finale airs next Friday, ending a 10-year run showing the development of Clark Kent into the Man of Steel.

It'll be a two-hour finale featuring as well the one and only Lex Luthor.

For this momentous event let us spend a week discussing all of our Smallville memories and experiences watching episodes.

I'm really liking the commercial for the finale. I've always loved the John Williams theme... every Superman film should have it.

But, I do not agree with your poll-- I do not think Superman III + IV were bad. Not as good as the first two, but they weren't bad, either...

if any one would die I think it would chloe. remmber the legion has know records of chloe if superman's life.

The reason there's no records for the Legion to find is because Chloe completely erased all records of herself when she disappeared.

My own theory is that she most likely will be forced to put on the Helmet of Nabu, thereby fully assuming the mantle (and identity) of Dr. Fate. It would make some sense of Kelly's statement (then again, I may be reaching a bit to find sense in anything that woman says these days).

If anyone cares a "Smallville" Complete Score has been uploaded on itunes. I've just been going through the samples of the music, 28 tracks. Music from both Mark Snow and Louis Febre. It's listed at $11.99. I've been wanting a score forever so I'll be getting it. :)

Also every premiere episode is on Itunes for free.

The pilot is still the syndication version with alot of cuts

I just had a convoluted thought about how Jonathan can be in those clips and look more like a real person than a ghost. This is kinda out there, but it fits to some degree with what Kelly said. Since we haven't seen the kitchen sink yet, here goes:

Jonathan's spirit (the one we saw in the premier) somehow finds his way into the alt-verse, where he finds the other Jonathan, who is a sad man indeed. His attempt to get back with Martha didn't go very well, and this Jon is ready to chuck it all in. Our Jonathan makes a bargain with him and merges with him, becoming whole and with both Jonathans' memories.

And a chance to bring the Kent family back together again in our universe.

It's far-fetched, I know, but I can't seem to get it out of my head. Of course, Jon would have a lot of explaining to do... Like why he didn't dress up before showing up at the wedding!

I think Chloe is safe. It make no reason at all to kill her now. Had Alison Mack remained a full cast member this year then maybe she'd die, but they've already had two send-offs for her this year it would be completely pointless. Have a Legionare travel back in time and bring her into the future: therefore her telling Clark's story to the child makes sense (as everyone knows Superman ID by then), Ollie is free to hook up with Black Canary, and it explains beyond the lame "she deleted her online profile" excuse for why Chloe is not known to the future.

Tess however is screwed. Since she took over for Chloe as Watchtower 2.0, she'll also take the bullet for Ali. Sorry Tess fans.

Here's hoping (this comes after watching some older key eps) that when Superman takes flight, they ditch the lame Matrix-flight effect. "Stick your arms out, dickhead. You're Superman, not Neo!"

After further consideration, I've revised my above theory just a bit. Before launching into it, I wish to give credit to The Dagman for sort of planting the general idea in my mind many months back; this borrows a bit from his Jonathan theory.

Also, I kept thinking about the final thing Brian said in the K-site article, pertaining to Jonathan:

"We very purposely platformed his role in the finale with what we did in the premier this year, with that final scene that Clark has with him in Lazarus. The whole point was to bookend the final season with Jonathan."

So. With all that in mind, here's what I think we're going to see:

Following the longest 'Previously on Smallville' in Smallville's history, the opening teaser will show the ghost of Jonathan at the Fortress. As he looks at the crystal mechanism that Clark 'unplugged' in the previous ep, he notices a softly glowing blinking light and reaches out to touch it. A part of the AI Jor-El is reactivated, and communicates with Ghost-Jon.

Jor-El tells him that Kal-El, their son, faces his greatest challenge, but there's still an element of doubt in his mind. He needs an added push, something that only Jonathan could provide.

Jonathan asks Jor-El what he can do; as a ghost, he's limited. Jor-El tells him that 'you were more of a father to him than I could ever be, Jonathan Kent' and that 'your death was not meant to be. He goes on to tell Ghost-Jon that although he wishes that he could bring him back to life, that ability goes even beyond Kryptonian science.

But there is a way that Jonathan could still return to the living and aid Clark at his time of need. Jonathan asks, 'What must I do?' and we go to the opening credits.

Approximately 30 minutes later, after the long-drawn out Lois-angst scenes, we find that Jor-El has transported Jonathan's spirit into the alt-verse, where Ghost-Jon than meets Alt-Jon. And from there, my original theory plays out. The biggest questions that remain in this scenario would be how the integrated Jonathan returns to our 'verse and how he would explain to Martha how her husband who'd been dead for five years has returned (without Martha keeling over with a heart-attack from the shock!)

Presumably, Clark told her about Alt-Jon; she knew about Alt-Lionel, so it stands to reason that she would be aware that Jonathan still existed in the other reality.

To me, this is the most logical way to actually bring him back, unless I'm really over-thinking this and Ghost-Jon simply shows up for the wedding.

^ Proc that's a great and plausible theory for Jon. Isn't it interesting though that this Clark has almost no clue how to use any of the Fortress technology and still relies on the simulcrum to basically operate it for him? Sad. LOl.

Thanks, AY. I should add that my basic idea behind this is that the thing that would remove any final doubts from Clark's mind about being able to fly and being 'the greatest hero the world has ever known' would be a living, breathing Jonathan to tell him that. I'm just not buying that it's Ghost-Jon handing him the suit. It needs to be Jonathan in the flesh, and this seems to be the most plausible way to do it. The parts of the puzzle are all there, and if they open the show the way I presented it, it fits the whole concept of 'bookending'.

:)

Your ideas are good, Proc. Especially this one...

Of course that means it will never happen.

I understand the Justice League not making an appearance in the finale. It has to concentrate on Clark and company. They should have done one more episode with the League before the end, even against the Legion of Doom.

I think Chloe's safe...Tess, I don't know about.

A compliment for Smallville...when it came to the hot babe department, the show had very few equals.

^^ Well to be fair...I only postulated it was a "solid ghost Jon" sitting beside Martha in the clip before the Space promo appeared. It does seem plausible now that he will be reconstituted some how. We know that Kryptonian technology is extremely advanced (dare I say borderlines Time Lord tech lol) if they can reverse time...they can bring people back from the dead. Which brings up another question, if this does turn out to be the case, why didn't Jor-El restore Jonathon earlier?

I'm not sure if it has been brought up before but it was revealed recently that there will be a surprise cameo...

Oh, now you tease!

See, the thing is about making it so that Jonathan never died would be to have altered the events of the last five years... The last thing I want to see is Jor-El hitting the reset button. That's why I think short of a clone, this is the way to bring Jon back... I mean, they already prepared the way by introducing Alt-Jon.

The score is pretty cool by the way. Worth the purchase. I wish they'd consulted us and you know told us this was in the works. They obviously timed the release with the finale. This is something that I've been waiting for a long time...I can't even replace most of the tracks.

In the space promo it looks like Tess is falling down and Lex is lowering her down. She could be stabbed/shot

Then there's this interview with Erica
