Spoilers Skeleton Crew [Spoiler Discussion]

From https://www.starwars.com/news/skeleton-crew-jon-watts-christopher-ford-interview:
"And, no, Neel isn’t the same species as Max Rebo. We asked."
https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Neel's_species

Any reason why they didn't want Neel to be an Ortolan? I mean, he does look slightly different than Max Rebo, but that can be explained many ways. I know it's kind of ambiguous as to how many appendages Ortolans have.
The guy in the Star Wars explain video posted earlier thought that he might actually be inspired by Hooter from Captain EO, rather than Max Rebo.

quick question:

1) do those kids lives in At Attin?

2) and they do that hyper space and ends up in another part of the galaxy?

The kids are from At Attin. Both they and their teachers mention it.

It is unclear how far they went out in hyperspace (depends on the ship they got. They weren't in hyperspace long). Judging by the mentions of it in "The Mandalorian", I think they are in the Mid-Rim, as that place was said to have a major Piracy problem the New Republic was having issues dealing with.

The SW version of when Trek went with Tom Paris instead of Nick Locarno
That isn't the reason why they didn't use Nick, that's a common misconception.

The writers were staff writers when The First Duty was written so there would be no rights issues, plus the writers are not credited at all in the Lower Decks episodes where Nick appears.

The reason they didn't use Nick in Voyager was the producers thought he was irredeemable for some reason.

Hope it's not to cheat someone out of money, such the person who made the Max Rebo alien. The SW version of when Trek went with Tom Paris instead of Nick Locarno and T'Pol instead of T'Pau.
Maybe it's a Doctor Who situation where they'd have to pay someone if he were an Ortolan? Granted, the chances of that being the case are slim, but I usually find when we get something that is similar to but legally distinct from, it's usually for reasons related to money.
It's definitely not that.

I think this is just their way of being able to have the cake and eat it too. People who are fond of the Kenner mis-interpreted design get to have a whole new species of whatever Neel is (Kenortolans?) While on the other hand; Phil Tippett's design is still respected, and Ortolans still look like Max.

I mean it's not like Star Wars doesn't have other pairs of species that look suspiciously similar be aren't actually the same; Chiss & Pantorans leap to mind of course, but so do Togruta & Chagrian, Ithorians & Ottegan, and I'm not sure if they ever fully clarified what was going on with Zabraks and Dathomirians.
It is unclear how far they went out in hyperspace
Seems like they were just pushing buttons at random, and something they did kicked them out. Given that the effect was visually the same as the other rough hyperspace exists we've seen before in animation (mostly 'Rebels' IIRC), it seems a given that whatever they did either triggered an emergency stop, and/or they switched off something vital to maintaining hyperspace travel.

I wouldn't mind seeing Earth in Star Wars at some point, but it clearly can't be part of their galaxy.

Why not. The crawl might be from someplace in other galaxy looking over the main galaxy in SW.

It's a cute show. "Skeleton Crew" reminded me of those adventure flicks for kids that were prominent from the 1980s to the early 2000s.

Would people have problems if they made this new planet, Earth? Whether or not they do it or not I kind of like the idea of it and would be cool with it. I am ready to see Earth in SW.
