It looks as if the Enterprise is indeed being built at a smaller scale than when it is finally launched. Movie magic.
I don't really care if it's bigger or smaller, but looking at those pictures, I forgot how butt ugly the Enterprise D looks. I always hated that the nacells were shorter than the saucer section. It just never looked right. The Enterprise E was better, I just wish they didn't try so hard to make it look like Voyager.
that'd be borg cube size... bigger.... I like that....![]()
That still is a big ass starship. Can somebody PLEASE adjust the NU-E to the corrected 2000 f 610m length?![]()

Gizmodo, as reported on trekmovie.com, says the Enterprise is 725.35 meters (2380 feet) long.

Already linked to and being debated.
The problems we're running into is that the numbers being told to us by those in charge isn't lining up with what is on screen.
I think the new enterprise size is a complete cockup! i have just thought about it, and i can see 2 decks in the saucer rim, and judging by the size of the windows, its this big:

You can still fit that engineering into the secondary hull
Anyway, i will go for the new enterprise to be about excelsior size, no bigger!
Because you are clearly biased!
Oh? how? cause i dont want star wars sizes?? lol. i just dont think there is the need for that much space. i dont like change :P

You can't fit all those new shuttles inside a shuttlebay the size of the original TOS E.
It simply can't happen. Why? The TOS shuttle seats 5-6 tops. The new shuttle seats 12 or more, plus gear stowage. In the shuttle approach-to-the-hangar-bay shots, we see the new shuttles having room to do some maneuvering in-flight inside the shuttle to dock with one of about 6-8 rack structures.
Where's the room for that in the TOS E?
Yes, I did (for the fourth time last night), and I was watching very carefully. To my eye, when Kirk rode up to the Enterprise at dawn and watched her being built from a distance, the ship looked massive--definitely much larger than the original starships, very possibly a half mile long (look at the size of those buildings underneath the Enterprise). But then when the shuttle piloted by Captain Pike flew under the Enterprise a few scenes later, the ship appeared to have shrunk back to TMP size. Then three years later when McCoy and Kirk's shuttle flies by the Enterprise in space, the ship re-embiggened to half-mile size (look how tiny the shuttle looks while flying over the saucer and when it flies by the rim of the saucer and the starboard warp nacelle).Did you see Kirk and everyone else standing UNDER the ship in the Iowa fleet yards? Did you see the size of the shuttle next to the Ent shuttle bay when in space, or near the ship?
I've done a little analysis -- aside from the fact that some people might not like the 700 meter length, it's actually quite consistent with what's shown on screen.
