In the final year or so of Trek's current streaming era, would you have watched any of the planned and canned show concepts?

The Risa sitcom series.

Back when Khan was going to be a three-part miniseries instead of an audio drama.
The mysterious Pike-era Star Trek: Genesis on board a massive Federation ship with six nacelles for some reason.

Star Trek: Year One which was basically more SNW but with recast TOS characters.

The ultra-mysterious project codenamed "1992" that may have been about the Eugenics Wars but that's just a guess.

Star Trek: United, about President Archer and the early Federation.

Star Trek: Legacy, about the Enterprise-G crew and an imploding Klingon Empire in a story centred around Alexander.

And going back further, things like...

Star Trek: Worf, about Worf on a Defiant-class ship taking on space terrorists.

Captain Sulu, about George Takei's Sulu on the Excelsior.

Hopeship, a TOS spin-off about M'Benga on a hospital ship.

Assignment: Earth, a non-Trek series backdoor piloted via the TOS episode.

I knew there was one I was missing in animation! Final Frontier, which did the future-Federation thing before Discovery.

And also Federation, a similar concept in the year 3000.

Of course.

It’s hard to say, since I stopped watching DSC after the third season, SNW after the second season, didn’t watch SFA at all, and did see all of PIC, LDS and PRO but really only liked the last show. As for what’s listed though, I’d probably at least give them all a go, except for the Risa thing because I can’t stand Tawny Newsome and her idea to make Star Trek into a sitcom. LDS was bad enough.

Assignment: Earth and Final Frontier. No interest in the rest. Especially the Risa comedy. Where I probably would’ve broken my rule about always sampling new Trek.

"Assignment: Earth" was an episode that I enjoyed at the time and I would certainly have watched a series about Gary Seven, Isis and Roberta. (Liked Assignment: Eternity by our very own member, Greg Cox, and the various short stories in the Strange New Worlds anthologies too).

I would have probably tried the Worf, Sulu and M'Benga shows but not necessarily with the same sense of anticipation.

As far as the modern stuff goes...well, I've not been particularly taken by any of the shows except Prodigy. The spin-off I really wanted to see was with the crew we saw at the end of first season Picard - and basically they all got dumped in season two.

None of the proposals sound of interest to me. That doesn't mean they wouldn't turn out be something I enjoy - but I'd be waiting to see what other people are saying before I'd bother to try them

I thought Final Frontier and Federation both sounded like they had merit, back when the pitches were made public.

And evidently the people making Discovery, Picard, and Prodigy thought so too.

Don’t see why anyone would bother with 60s stories now, though; either a recast Gary Seven has been moved forward to the present for whatever reason, or it’s just a subsequent agent continuing the mission. And, uh, maybe rename the cat.

It could, but there’d have to be a reason to go to the expense of making it a period piece. Just doing Gary Seven/Assignment: Earth-type stories isn’t enough, since there’s nothing about the original assignment that doesn’t translate just fine to today (complete with “incredibly dangerous period in Earth’s history”). So the question becomes, why keep it in the sixties? If there’s a significant story reason, fine; if it’s because the original episode was set there, there’s no reason to go to the effort of recreating the era.

(I mean, all of this is me overthinking for a series that isn’t going to happen, of course; but I’d watch it if it did.)
