Who else in Trek was a know it all? Data? Spock? Seven of Nine? Q? They pretty much did know it all.
Wesley would be a better example than Q.

You're using circular logic here. You claim Burnham is a know-it-all, but it's not okay compared to other Trek characters who were genuine know-it-alls (and therefor not Mary Sues), so then Burnham is not really a know-it-all, but she's still not okay because she's a know-it-all. :wtf:

So again, why is Burnham somehow different from those other characters? She was already an intelligent and well-traveled human child who was raised on Vulcan with next-level educational techniques, so why is it somehow off-base for her to have exceptional intellectual aptitude?

Wesley Crusher is much maligned for being a know it all.

Aren't they doing a Picard series set in 2399? Is that not the "what happened after Nemesis" fans have been asking for since 2009?
And it'll be fun to watch the 'true TNG' fans loose their minds over the changes they make (oh yeah, I'm sure some are saying: "But TNG isn't as old as TOS; they WON'T make a lot of changes because it's still 'modern enough'...:rommie:)

yep. 80s aesthetics clearly still works.
that's why we still wear sweatbands and shoulderpads

Wesley was more of a Mary Sue than Burnham. Apparently he was even an author insert of Gene so he fits the term even better than she does.

I agree that Wesley was more of a Mary Sue than Burnham, until the cover up, but he later on became basically a god-like being, so even his one moment of moral failure didn't stain or define his character. Data, Seven of Nine, The Doctor, Spock, Bashir, T'Pol, Tucker, Tom Paris, and I'm sure other Trek characters all might be considered 'know-it-alls' at some point. Each Trek series is usually filled with some of the best examples of humanity or alien species, many very highly talented. When I look at the leads:

-Kirk: At the time, the youngest captain in Starfleet, who gets command of the flagship. He's once described as like a walking library. He's a great fighter, irresistible to women, and has a mostly charmed career.
-Picard: Also a very young captain on the Stargazer. He's an archaeologist in his spare time while being good at diplomacy and fighting (when pressed). He's a Renaissance man.
-Sisko: He's a good administrator, war leader, an engineer, and becomes a revered religious figure who is half-Prophet.
-Janeway and Archer I know the least about, but both were generally well-regarded on the episodes I've seen them on. They even had Archer being considered the greatest explorer of the 22nd century. And Janeway might have defeated the Borg, something the entire Federation couldn't do.

Burnham is the lead of her show, even if she isn't a captain, so her being good at many things is in keeping with Trek tradition. Granted, is the writing always the best in how they depict her many abilities? I would say no. I think there are times when there is more telling than showing, and maybe that's why Burnham might grate for some people. But her being one of the best of the best is not dissimilar from the Trek captains and many of the other officers on all the Trek shows.

If Pike was a 3 episode guest on DSC, I’d vote yes. As he’s here all season, I’m less inclined to want one (even if they do one, I’d prefer it be a Pike series, not an Enterprise with Pike series—and I’m already getting that now).

Briefly regarding Burnham,I don’t consider her a “know it all”at all.And even if she was, what about it?
Aren’t there enough stupid people on TV?

Regarding Pike..has anyone any idea how many episodes Mr.Mount is contracted for?I think that the producers are putting too much into the whole Enterprise crossover for it to be just for the first few episodes.
Maybe Disco will follow the lead of the Trek story so far by having as captain a couple of white guys before the role gets diversified.I would pay to see Saru get the big chair on a permanent basis.

Reports have it that Mount had signed on for the whole of Season 2 - all 14 episodes. He is only in Season 2 at this juncture. Anson Mount recently tweeted that he's unemployed again, having wrapped his time on Discovery.
