Sheen, "voluntarily enters rehab center"

I think the showrunners really handled this wrong. Grey's Anatomy did it the right way -- you act like nothing's wrong, keep filming the show business as usual, finish the season and... what's that? You have a plot point in the story that allows you to get rid of the actor seamlessly?

Yeah exactly. Film a few episodes with him in it then say he moved away.

I don't care if the show is canceled however if they want to save it I'd have the brother finally grow some balls and move into his own place. Maybe he even comes out and the new man can be his boyfriend.

Yeah but how would the producers have gotten Charlie to go for that?

I'm really not sure what they could have done at this point, kind of damned if you do or damned if you don't.

The network and studio didn't have a choice here; they handled a bad situation the best way that they could.

Responsibility for this clusterfuck rests on Charlie Sheen and no one else. He deserved to be fired.

As usual we need China to set our opinions straight:

This is a bizarre article with a Chinese perspective on the Sheen meltdown. Apparently, Sheen is not "filial". It's also contains the following gems:

And instead of epic parties at his home with porn stars, why not keep Sheen occupied with business banquets?
Gee, why didn't we think of that?

It is almost as if he feels no shame and is loving the attention.
Nooooooo! Say it ain't so!

I think Charlie Sheen is running out of material... That tweet reacting to the firing just repeated a buncha one-liners he's thrown out before. Kinda getting into a repetitive shtick from him now.

That's why he's hiring someone to ghost-write his tweets, etc. Not a bad idea to refresh the stock of one-liners.

Love it. I didn't realize whales bReached, I thought they beached.... and welcome other warlock's from those other dimensions.

Whales breach.

OHHH. I should thank the Warlock, he has taught me something today.

Bow down before your tiger-blooded god.

This quote's brilliant:

With no firm hand to guide them, Western media has deliberately goaded him into making increasingly delusional statements, more concerned about "winning" higher ratings than Sheen's own sense of pride, or the negative example his brash public admissions about his private sex life and unverifiable international conspiracies could be setting for society.

Could somebody explain to the guy who wrote this that the "firm hand to guide them" is unconstitutional here?

I wonder why they're even continuing the show? It's been on for eight seasons and the "1/2 a man" in it is no longer half a man. The show is probably straining its useful lifespan and losing it's head-star is certainly not going to help.

Did it ever have a useful lifespan? The show will make tens if billions of dollars over the next 20 years with syndication rights. Even if the new version sucks they get an extra 20 episodes to sell.

The show will still most likely be canceled but they will look into it.

He ignored his own father's advice to keep quiet, who was once the president of the US. Sheen is a disgrace, unfilial to his father and his fatherland.

He knows it 's a tv show right?

Sheen is indeed embarrassing himself and his dad though. To be this old and a dad, and still act like an attention-seeking stupid kid.

I don't think the Chinese grasp the concept of "attention whoring" very well.

What I get out of this is:

Charlie Sheen is news in China.

Fuck.

Tomorrow, Kim Jong-il will express concern and urge Charlie to seek psychiatric help, offering to recommend his own therapist.

But I don't think Sheen's problem is that he's "ronery." He's gone to town on 5 chicks at once, after all.

Exactly.. he's the star of the show. While the others have gotten semi-famous with the show too he's carrying the show and that means an obligation not only to the actors(who'll do fine now financially even if the show shuts down now for good) but to the whole crew as well who depend on the show for a living.

Rehab to stars has proven more of a time out to them because the majority of them fall back into old habits. It's also because the justice system is kind of weak to them and let's them go after a few days in prison (tops) rather than burying them for the entire sentence behind bars.

Serving the entire time behind bars would actually be kind of rehab because they'd feel real consequences and may start to think a bit.

Personally i like Sheen and many movies he's done but i guess he's either got some serious self control problems or has some very deep issues and if he doesn't adress them he may end up overdosing and in the news for good.

I agree he is the star of the show:techman:
