Sheen, "voluntarily enters rehab center"

If anyone cares here are some interviews I found of Robert Downey Jr commenting on Sheen.

He(Sheen) is a big boy. He can do whatever he likes. RDJ's practically telling Letterman

"What do you want me to say to him? huh?"

"You want ME to give him advice? he's better off on his own"

Damn straight. Yeah, he did some crazy stuff, but he's managed to phone in or appear on TV and radio every day it seems for the past week, add to that twitter in the past few days. During that time he passed a drug test. If Charlie Sheen really was hoovering up cocaine, screwing his porn star "goddesses" 24/7 and generally being out of it, I highly doubt he could have even done all that press, let alone be bothered to do so when your that high.

David Letterman was being a grade A douchebag who RDJ quickly put in place. The only reason any of this is happening [EDIT: "This" being the Chaim Levine shitstorm that started the recent furore] is because Two and A Half Men wasn't running, if everyone did go back to work when he was out of rehab none of this would have happened. Sure, his initial stint at rehab/home/thinking himself better put the show on hold, but he did turn up for work a week later and no one was there. When he asked why, Chuck Lorre told him there were no scripts. Charlie asked why, Chuck apparently gave him some BS response and that's what started this whole thing off.

Thoughout all of this, Charlie has made some valid points, namely "why wasnt there any scripts?" Now he has been extremely brash with his comments, but it is a valid question, one Chuck Lorre hasn't answered. All we got was that ridiculous vanity card about....something.

From that point of view, which I think is the one Charlie Sheen is looking at it from, the wall of silence from CBS/Lorre means he is "WINNING" this argument, because I've heard nothing from them about the cancellation of Two and a Half Men except the comments Charlie made, which have now in the sense of the story, long since past. From the moment he showed up on an empty set, there was no reason for the show to be canceled as that was long before any of this "Chaim Levine" stuff happened.

Yes I've laughed at the craziness of it all. Yes, Charlie Sheen did have an "epic party" filled with drugs and his "goddesses", but I honestly think all that stuff from a TV show production point of view is in the past now. There is no reason why CBS/Lorre and Sheen shouldn't sit down and talk about this. Sheen seems willing, and the ball is now in CBS and Chuck Lorre's court to answer some of Charlie Sheen's perfectly valid questions.

Bullshit.

Letterman obviously did make Downing uncomfortable by crossing a line, however obliquely, concerning Downing's own addiction history. Downing responded in a pretty reserved and humble manner, and he's to be commended for that. No one put anybody "in his place."

And no, Sheen doesn't have a single valid fucking point - simply because he repeats all of the variations of the ways in which he imagines that he's been wronged by employers who are unwilling to deal with the craziness and unreliability of an active addict over and over to the point that people start believing his bullshit doesn't make any of it so. The people at CBS would be nuts to "sit down and talk" about giving him his job back unless he takes his illness(es) seriously and works hard at cleaning up. As someone noted uptopic the guy is probably uninsurable now - why in hell would any network risk investing further hundreds of millions of dollars on a junkie who's likely to render their investment completely worthless on a moment's impulse?

Sheen's not winning anything except a few snickering "attaboys" from the ignorant. All the producers and executives have to do to "win" is not to argue with him in public but simply use their good business judgment to lock him out and move on with doing business.

Oh, and fuck all of the people in news and show biz - if there's a difference - who are taking advantage of Sheen's delusional state to jack up their ratings. He's in a lot of trouble, and instead of trying to help him people like Piers Morgan are all too eager to kiss his ass and encourage him to act out.

BTW, Drexler's comment about "stealth bombers" is ironically funny from someone who turned the Akira design into a supposed 22nd century starship - not that either "era" is in any way equivalent to real history or entitled to that respect.

And a poorly thought-through analogy regardless, because films do make anachronism stew out of real history all the time, and even be insanely awesome because of it.

I hate to say this... but when I was watching the Oscars the other night, I had a feeling that in the next couple of years, Charlie will be on the memorial... :(

Paramount wanted that. He did only his job.

Gee, maybe everyone else does too.

This is true. Maybe one of the anxieties fans have about these fake histories is, in fact, knowing that because they're not real they have no integrity of their own at all and can be discarded on a whim never to be treated seriously again.

On topic, Sheen may well not die - this kind of illness can take someone quickly or it can drag on for terrible decades. I believe Jan Michael Vincent is still alive.

Ok, firstly:

Drexler's comment was purely from a production design point of view, and when taken like that Inglorious Basterds has nothing to do with it. They used period weapons/vehicles and costumes throughout. Doug Drexler's comment is my signature about JJ Trek and it happens to perfectly embody how I felt about the film. It was a very good movie, but the production design took this lifelong Trek fan out of it for a few moments. Nowt wrong with that.

Secondly, I havent once said he doesnt need help, just watching Letterman acting as Judge, Jury and Executioner pissed me off. The only people this is between is Charlie Seen, Chuck Lorre and CBS. And when looked at like that, Lorre and CBS have done fuck all except exacerbate Sheen by immediately shitcanning his show without any conversation.

Two years ago Sheen was actually arrested and charged with assault against his Wife and yet production still resumed on Two and a Half Men without much of a hitch. And in my book, beating the crap out of your wife is a damn sight more troubling than snorting drugs. YES, I know that drugs are probably what caused it, but that whole ordeal wasn't taken half as serious as this purely because instead of keeping it to himself he told the world his view on things. Sure, its a screwed up, ridiculously hilarious view on things, but its from the man himself. And I honestly think his questions about the production halt on Two and a Half Men are valid, even if nothing else he has said is.

David Letterman has made fun of CBS for picking now to fire him and not all the other times he's done much worst things.

So weird...I thought the same thing. :(

He probably won't. They left off Corey Haim, and he went out the same way Charlie Sheen probably will.

I was saddened that they left off Corey Haim. I'm about the same age he would've been so I watched his movies as a kid. He wasn't the most amazing actor in the world but you don't know things like that when you're a kid...and things like "Lost Boys", "Silver Bullet", "License to Drive" were big parts of my childhood.

I've now watched the entire 20/20 interview.

I must say at this point, it seems a little less funny. Just a little.

The man needs some serious help.

They won't leave Charlie off because of his father is my guess.

Someone earlier on said they could replace Sheen, just have Charlie (the character) have a bad accident and plastic surgery. I thought of a great replacement.

The bandages come off and reveal...

... Emilio Estevez.

"Wow, I look younger that ever!"
