Sheen, "voluntarily enters rehab center"

I fucking hated Dharma & Greg, don't care about Men, and while I've seen The Big Bang Theory and am probably in its target market due to the kind of humor employed, I can't bring myself to care enough about it to watch on any kind of regular basis.

Frankly, I like Community better.

^ Community is the only thing I watch on TV right not while I'm waiting for "Doctor Who" to return. I think anyone is ultimately replaceable but the thing with "Two and a Half Men" is the dynamic of the show really relies on Charlie, Joe and Angus. I'm not sure how you could replace Charlie and not change that dynamic. "8 Simple Rules" attempted to move on from John Ritter's death by adding two new characters and it completely I believe tanked that show because it changed the family dynamic around. It became a different show. So I don't think they could replace Charlie and still have it be as effective. I'm not really a fan and think it's gone on for too long frankly myself so what do I know?

Have Charlie endure a brutal auto accident in which he's horribly disfigured, resulting in lots of plastic surgery that leaves him looking and sounding like an entirely different person.

Problem solved!

You can all thank me when Men is back on the air.

They could always turn the last season into a murder mystery... it's not like the normal CBS crowd would notice a difference...

I feel that I may be one of the few people who has NEVER seen a single episode of this show.

For that, I feel strangely fortunate...

I've seen one - Jon Cryer goes on a date with a woman who goes berserk in a restaurant after having a couple of drinks. I don't remember what Charlie did in the show - it may have been a "Sheen-lite" ep, if there is such a thing. I don't really remember the kid, either, though I vaguely recall that Charlie and Jon's characters "mom" figured in it somewhere.

In any event, what I think of Sheen right now has nothing to do with whether he's ever entertained me or not. I recall him being funny in a small part in Ferris Bueller's Day Off and that's about it.

I have enjoyed Sheen in a few movies...like Wall Street, Major League & Money Talks. I enjoy Two And A Half Men alot...but like I said...I appreciate the rest of the cast more so than Sheen.

Charlie was hilarious (as was everyone else) in the Hot Shots! flicks. (Lloyd Bridges, in particular, was absolute pure comedy GENIUS.)

And I just remembered that Jon Cryer was in the first one, he played a pilot who had "Walleye Vision".

It would have been interesting to see Jon as Chandler Bing in "Friends". He auditioned for the role while he was doing a play I believe.

That was one of the best parts of the movie (maybe the best written and acted scene in the movie, and it didn't even include the title character!). Charlie ruled in the 80s: "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", "Lucas", "Platoon", "Wall Street", "Major League" - all aces! He was in a very cool, underrated/obscure '90s movie called "The Chase" too.

Too bad he turned into a insufferable douchebag. I didn't realize until recently what a ratings juggernaut "Two and a Half Men" was. Oh well, its premature cancellation would be the only good thing to come out of this debacle. It's sad that such sexist filth has lasted so long, and the prospect of it going for 10 years plus while countless infinitely better shows have been cancelled was depressing.

This is off-topic, but because this is the first thread where I've really noticed Jetfire's new avatar, I just have to drop this quote for him (and all the cool kids who get the reference): "I love when she does that shit with her hair!".

I so completely agree!

How can a man slut sexist pig, a "oh look my brother acts gay" and a fat kid stay funny? I just don't get why people watch this crap.

Sucks that one asshole is bringing down everyone else's job, including camera people and such that make next to nothing.

I watch this crap. It's not like the show is advocating you should BE like these assholes. I mostly watch to see the characters suffer.

My major problem with the show (and it's a guilty please, dirty jokes and the all) is that the characters pretty much never change. You would Charlie would be a better man by this point - but nope, Jake is still stupid, Alan is still a chump and Charlie is still the boozy womanizer. I had high hopes when they brought in Chelsea, but they torpedoed that story.

At least on The Big Bang Theory, it feels like the characters are developing as people.

Yep!

Even House has developed and is still an asshole. Characters on shows can grow and still be there "funny" selves, but 2.5 Men might as well be The Simpsons and never age.

I think the series could EASILY survive the loss of Sheen. It is, after all, simply yet another variation of "The Odd Couple" anyway, and that basic premise will work with all sorts of variations.

Imagine: The retooled series begins with news that Charlie Harper has died. (Of something appropriate like alcohol poisoning, or being tossed from a bedroom window after being caught-in-the-act by a jealous husband) He then surprises everyone by unexpectedly leaving his entire estate to his brother Alan, whom we discover he didn't really mind having around (Cue audience to say "Awwww"!). Just prior to the mid-show break, Herb and Judith have a huge falling out (perhaps the result of some revelation made in Charlie's will).

The second half of the show begins as an obvious rip off of the opening montage of the old "Odd Couple" series, right down to the voice-over:

"On March 13, Herb Melnick was asked to remove himself from his place of residence. That request came from his wife Judith. Deep down, he knew she was right. With nowhere else to go, he appeared at the home of his friend, Alan Harper. Sometime earlier, Harper's wife, who'd later become Herb's wife, had also thrown him out, requesting that he never return. Can two divorced men, who'd actually been married to the same woman, though at different times, share an awesome beach house... and a son... without driving each other crazy?" (long pause) "Let the mistaken-for-gay-parents jokes commence."

Series repaired, and possibly improved.
