Spoilers She-Hulk: Attorney at Law discussion thread

To be honest it's not that bust a gut comedy show i had hoped for after the trailer but it's still decent.

Stil really like the 4th wall breaks because it's used to good effect in mocking the show or the genre itself and exactly predicts what the audience thinks. It may be a coincidence though that they had a sequence of people going all misogynistic on Jen Walters/She Hulk, something we discussed here at length, when the show was review bombed before it even aired by the exact same type of people shown in the show

Best part though was in court when she gleefully confirmed that her lawyer ex-colleague was a giant douchebag but the end credits scene was even funnier

It may not take top spot of Marvel shows for me at this point ( that still belongs to Moon Knight) but it's definitely entertaining.

I'm thinking this show maybe drawing on some parallels from the real world, specifically the fact that police departments/law enforcement agencies haven't exactly had great publicity in recent years. Maybe within the MCU, after the rather public disgrace that DODC made of themselves in Ms. Marvel, the public backlash from which has led to some leniency is being shown to those with superpowers, specifically the right to a trial and due process.
But "enhanced" villains in the MCU are incredible rare.
And usually:
  1. They are dead at the end of the movie/tv show
  2. They are aliens, I don't even know if US law applies here.
  3. They are world-conquering villains and if they caught alive they are usually put in some black site.
and I think one counts on the fingers of one hand super villains dedicated to "common crimes". Even MCU Spider-Man enemies are normal humans with some super-tech equipment.

So my point is:
  1. People in the MCU do even realize that there are bad super-people waiting for a trial?
  2. There is a sufficient number of them for one to need a specialized department of a Law Firm (which operates in a SINGLE city)?

Tiny quibble, but I'd amend "perfect time to leak it to the press and derail Blonsky's bid for freedom." with "perfect time to cash in and sell it to some sensationalist media rag." ;)

Another possibility is that The Contessa is the one that leaked it to maintain some control over Blonsky, because of course he's on her recruiting wishlist. I mean he's not liable to be interested in coming to work for her if he's happy on his private groupie commune. (That's assuming of course that the "seven soulmates" isn't code for the Thunderbolts, and he's been clandestinely corresponding with The Contessa through the prison pen-pal system since he got transferred out of the SHIELD cryo-cell.)
So looks like it was indeed "option 1" after all, and I'm honestly glad. This is not the show to put in meaningful connections to the larger narrative, it's the the show for breezing past all that in favour of playing with the random craziness that goes on around said narrative.

This show just keeps getting better each week. I already feel like 9 episodes won't be enough since there doesn't seem to be an "end game" like there was with the other shows.

The B story was every bit as good as the A story this week. Crazy light Elves.

This show keeps killing it. As already mentioned, I loved how the show knew exactly the kind of misogynistic bullshit the trolls would say about She-Hulk, right down to the typical shit we've already heard from them about characters like her, Kamala Khan, Ironheart, and so many more when they debuted in the comics.

I initially wasn't thrilled by the idea of Dennis being the focused of the B plot but it was ultimately rewarding with Jen being able to publicly state to his face what she thought of him, even if it ended up helping. The wild antics of Runa helped alleviate that plotline, too, and I hope we see her again, either on this show or elsewhere.

Once again, there were lots of great jokes throughout but my favorite was Nikki's thirst trap idea to lure Wong into meeting with Jen.

They planted something that will most likely turn into an ongoing storyline when the Wrecking Crew apparently tried to get a blood sample from her and failed.

Loved also the dig at the media/po culture that makes up bogus rumors such as She Hulk being rejected by the Avengers.

They need to lean harder on Megan Thee Stallion, I think they only said her name 50 or so times.

They went balls deep in the internet trolling in this one.

I don’t think diplomatic immunity works like that.

The Wong alibi went pretty much as I thought. Guess the Thunderbolts pen pal theory people had didn’t pan out.

I was surprised Jen didn't hulk out more instinctively when she was jumped from behind in the dark alley like that. I guess it was funnier for her to remember she could hulk out like that but it was thin humor. I get Jen has control over her transformations but it would have been a good throwback to Bruce's warnings about triggers for her to have had a more instinctual change like the bar in #1.

This one was also a lot of fun. Lots of good laughs. I think Jen's becoming my favorite non-super hero super hero.

As has been speculated since they appeared in one of the trailers, the foursome that attacked Jen in the alley was The Wrecking Crew, as confirmed by one of them being referred to as "Thunderball".

But, who hired The Wrecking Crew? Someone who wants Jen's blood. Could it be the Leader?
Maybe. He certainly has a history with Hulk blood samples.
More important question; how did these joker's mug an Asgardian anything, least of all a construction worker?

That's irrelevant. The law where they are when they break it applies, as the judge decreed for the Asgardian Shapeshifter.

Very fun episode. I enjoy the lightness of it.

I don't really know who Megan The Stallion is (bizarre name) so that story didn't hit as much for me. From a quick Google I'm happier remaining ignorant.

Really enjoyed this; I’ve been enjoying the show so far but this was my favourite episode. It’s very much ticking those Boston Legal
/Ally McBeal boxes and it’s nice to see the supporting cast taking some of the spotlight too. And I hope that the scene with all the fanboys complaining about female superheroes will have annoyed all the right people (well, right men).
