Spoilers She-Hulk: Attorney at Law discussion thread

The speech by the opposing lawyer at the end…
Was it a shot fired at DJT?
Well that depends on your definition of shot fired I suppose… ;)
“Did he know he would be endangering lifes? Well, it depends on your definition of knowing!”

First of all - who's to say if something is "beneath" anybody ( in any field of work)? Marvel movies have attracted Oscar Level actors such as Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey Jr., Ben Kingsley and others.

That doesn't mean anything to me. There have been plenty of Oscar/Emmy level actors and actresses who have appeared in movie and television productions that are either mediocre or absolute crap.

Why does everyone that doesn't like the direction Marvel has been taking think it's dying a slow death? Maybe it is but seems like might be some projection happening here.

I don't know about anyone else, but that is how I feel. What projection are you talking about?I haven't been satisfied with the franchise since 2014. Or since Phase 3 began. I have mixed feelings about 2015. I didn't care for "Age of Ultron" but liked "Ant-Man". Sure, there have been a few productions (movies or TV) that I've liked. They're the reason why I keep hoping the franchise will improve again. But it's basically been at least six to seven years of disappointment for me.

Well, so far most people don't think they're crap.

Crap is an opinion. not a fact.

And I've been expressing my opinion. I've never claimed that everyone shares my feelings. And by the way, whether a production is crap or good is a matter of opinion, not fact.

I get not liking it and that’s your prerogative but to say it’s dying as well is the part that I was questioning.

EDIT: I did miss the "At least for me" part of your post so I apologize if I misread your intent there.

Insipid malcontents have be claiming the MCU is either "dead" or "dying a slow death" for so long at this point (literally since 'Iron Man 2') that the rate of death must be so slow, as to appear that it's not really dying at all. Like Drax eating a zarg nut.

Funny though how these claims only ever get louder when a project with a female and/or PoC lead comes out. Such a weird coincidence.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I believe the MCU has been experiencing a slow death for half a decade . . . ever since "Civil War". At least for me. With the exception of at least three or four movies (certainly not the third and fourth "The Avengers" films) and two DisneyPlus productions, I haven't really liked anything from the franchise since Phase Three began.
You are entitled to your opinion, of course, but every MCU film over the past 5 years has hit well over half a million in box office revenue, and I believe (but can't be bothered to look it up) that NWH and MVM both broke $1 billion. I don't know the earnings from L&T but I'd be surprised if it wasn't $700+ at least.
All the MCU streaming projects have been very well received, with the exception of WandaVision having a somewhat weaker ending and Falcon & Winter Soldier being a dud (I personally am not interested in watching it).
Of course, not every film or TV show is for everyone. I've never watched Breaking Bad or The Walking Dead, nor have I seen any of the DCEU films. I'm barely interested in a number of things that are popular now - that doesn't mean they're bad or duds just that I'm not interested.

Evans seems to be a generally good guy able to make fun of himself and the roles he plays. I also bust out laughing when i saw him in Free Guy in a short but hilarious cameo that's also Captain America related.
That was awesome!

This is MY OPINION. I've made that perfectly clear. I haven't been happy with the MCU since 2015 or 2016. That's a long time for a franchise that I used to be a major fan of. Yes, there have been a few productions that I had enjoyed over those past six or seven years. But I feel that the franchise has been in a slow decline during these past years. I realize you don't agree with me. So be it. But this is my opinion and mine only.

Why should that matter to me? I don't judge a movie or television show based on box off revenue or ratings. I judge it on how it makes me feel.

Something made you feel like it's dying 'cause it's changed too much from the time you felt it maximized your enjoyment of it?

I think you're trying to change or rewrite what I've been trying to say. I never said any of this. I've merely made it clear that aside from a few productions, I have been disappointed with the MCU since 2015 or 2016. Does that bother you?

So, do you think I'm white, male or both? My disappointment with the MCU isn't limited with "She Hulk". It really began in earnest with "Captain America: Civil War".

Sorry, I just wasn't paying attention, you're good.

I am totally uninitiated when it comes to She-Hulk. I know nothing about her, I know very little about Hulk (other than I like Mark Ruffalo), and so I went into this completely open, and I loved it. I love the idea, I love the execution, I love the characters. it was a lot of fun, and I can't wait to see more.

Liked it.

I also like that it definitely doesn't take itself too seriously with the 4th wall stuff (which IMO is a plus.)
I stopped reading/following comics before She-Hulk appeared in the Marvel Comics Universe, so yeah, don't knw much about her, except that I heard she was a member in the Fantastic Four for a bit; BUT I hope we get to see the original FF for a bit before they start swapping out Ben Grimm or the Torch as I know they did later in the comics.

I also liked that they didn't do a burdensome origin story here, it was quick, light and occasionally funny.

Loved the end tag scene too: "Captain America Fuc......<fade to black>

(Although to be fair; MCU fans know after Endgame, Steve Rodgers had a full and complete life with a wife and possibly kids; so yeah, not a big deal overall WHEN it happened... ;))

I watched the first episode of She-Hulk and found it was just...whatever. Not the best thing produced for the MCU (obviously), but not the worst, either. Above all else, Ruffalo sounded like he was reading instead of acting--just saying what was in front of him--completely unnatural. At this moment, it would be difficult to imagine how this character-specific format will merge into future productions, and I would have preferred an adaptation of the original, 1979 version where the stakes were higher and there was a degree of pathos shadowing her (e.g., a trap set for Walters ultimately killed Jill Stevens--her best friend--in issue #2, etc.), but it was not to be.
