Spoilers She-Hulk: Attorney at Law discussion thread

And we care about right wing twat tweets because?

So, just to be clear, going "woke" consists of having a popular black rapper guest starring on the show and dancing a popular dance with the main character?

I mean, Jesus, it wasn't even a political commentary. It was just, this is a person who exists and is famous right now, who so happens to be black.

Woke is having a female lead (to any one who still thinks it's 1985, which is a lot of people.).

Predictably (since it's in the ads for next week) the incels rage about how the male hero is being replaced by a half assed pale imitation gender flipped obvious kowtowing to feminism facsimile.

Woke (to the mainstream youths who demand woke, and vocal minority who condemn woke) is also having a nonvillain gay somewhere in the cast who is not killed off immediately to give a straight character back story.

The twerking is... NOT going over well on Twitter's right wing circles. Lots of anti She-Hulk memes going around after this episode. Has Disney released any viewership info? I'd guess it's flopping pretty hard. Go woke - go broke is a very hard law to break for these shows.

Ridiculous :guffaw:

Guess maybe you didn't read this article posted by Turtletrekker? Do we have any actual numbers about the shows viewship with it being on a streaming service?

I'm going to guess, if anything, this show is gaining a new audience for the MCU. It is the first explicitly in your face feminist show of the MCU and stands with Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel as being squarely aimed at women and girls. I am going to guess however the alt-right incel crowd is feeling is similar to how much of the population felt about watching action movies and reading comics for the last hundred years. I applaud the MCU for not giving in to the vocal minority that started with Endgame and Captain Marvel, but rather double down on commitment to a diversity of characters and stores within its connected universe.

For me, I fully embrace giving my daughter and her friends more female characters that aren't damsels in distress. If my kids and their friends are anything to go by, things like comic books, Dungeons and Dragons, super-hero movies are being embraced by all genders without stigma -- and that can only be a good thing.

As for me, I like She-Hulk just fine and really like that it is trying yet again a style of show that the MCU has not tried before. I admit that my personal favorite MCU shows, Falcon and Winter Soldier, Moon Knight, and Hawkeye, are all focused on male leads but I certainly enjoy the other programs as well.

Collider theorizes that Kingpin may have hired the Wrecking Crew to get Jen's blood to help him recover from his gunshot wound, which would explain why Daredevil appears (aside from the fact that Matt is also a lawyer...).
That would make sense given that the first episode established that Jen's gamma blood has some kind of healing properties that Bruce's (and presumably Emil's) does not. And yeah, it would also make for a better justification for Matt showing up, since while he is indeed also a lawyer, he's a lawyer on the other side of the country.

Star Lord's pelvic thrusting Ronan or She-Hulk's twerking with Megan, we need Peter and Jen to give us a dance off.

Twitter's right wing circles, there's a hotbed of inconsequence.

Anti She-Hulk memes, wow that impresses you.

I'm sure your analysis of Disney's operations will have you their CEO after their next investors quarterly report.

Go woke, go broke is a law? Wow, that's some impressive critical thinking skills.

Twerking is not hip, cool or fashionable.

Miley first Twerked on camera in 2013, but twerking dates back to 1993.

It's for sad, old and tired.

Twerking is movement that women in their 30s do to seem young and relevant, which it does not, because it makes actual "cool" people cringe.

As a (former?) nerd, now in her 30s, Twerking would be completely on brand.

Good. Anything that pisses off American fascists is a good thing. And I'm sure She-Hulk numbers are doing just fine. I remember the same morons throwing a hissy fit when a video of AOC dancing from her college days surfaced. Who cares?

So. ... Twerking? The impression I'm getting from my social media feed is that the latest episode was all about it and the sensitive men-inists don't like it?

I think the gist of it is how can objectifying women/male gaze be bad and twerking be good? (Mind you, I'm only parroting what's out there not trying to make personal comment)

Anyway, isn't Wong cool?
