1.175 million viewers with a .5 in 18-49? Abysmal...
The move to Tuesday's put the show up against major network competition, so these numbers aren't surprising. Friday night was a better night with less competition and more chances of viewers catching the second airing of the episode, compared to the current slot.

I wonder how Caprica will do when it starts next week.

A new time slot in the fall, after not airing since March...yeah, it'll be killed. A shame, since I really like it, but chances aren't good.
Yeah, that seems likely. Caprica was already hurt by having the series premiere released way ahead of the rest of the series on DVD and the way the first part of the season was handled. I'll miss it way more than I'll miss SGU, that's for sure.

When SciFi gets done killing SGU and Caprica, I'll be all done with SciFi (nothing else interests me on that channel anymore). Now I understand how country music folks felt when TNN turned into Spike.

I thought the episode was really scraping the bottom of the barrel. The ascension crap has always been pretty boring, and it seems like we now have more of that sort of nonsense.

More montage, *barf*

I'm not liking the Lucian Alliance. Yeah that one chick was pretty cute... but for the most part they just make no sense, and they seemed to have cast them from dudes who didn't make the cut for Sharktopus. Hopefully Knepper will have more of a role soon.

I'll be shocked if this show makes it to a third season.

Ah yes, return on the annoying pop song... Just like last year nobody is beyond a couple of us are commenting here during the show.

I am SO frakking tired of the overdone emotive pop ballad crap.

Grrrrrr.

I'll miss [Caprica] way more than I'll miss SGU, that's for sure.
Yeah, same here. I imagine both shows will have at least decent DVR numbers, especially considering the Tuesday night broadcast competition, but DVR numbers apparently don't get to the networks for about two weeks or so (according to an article I read regarding Lone Star).

Jesus, that was horrible. And it wasn't that I was jumping in, in the middle of the plotline. Nothing was particularly hard to figure out - good guys, bad guys, people in danger - but the actors are so completely wooden and uninteresting that they're unwatchable. The fat nerd is still the only one who brings a spark to a scene. The best writing in the world couldn't solve the casting problems.

I was going to stick around and see if Robert Knepper can make this show watchable but after this experience, I'm bailing for good. Total disaster.

Good. Kill it with fire and free up the timeslot. Of course, Skiffy will just replace it with bullshit like Haven. :wtf:

I liked it, although the sudden appearance of Knepper was a bit jarring (hey, guy who was here the whole time but we didn't see? How are you doing?) I do think Young should be relieved of command, though. The guy has proven repeatedly he doesn't have what it takes to make the tough decisions. Give the newly deprogrammed Telford a shot.

The new chick was the redhead angel that Dean F***ed on Supernatural.

I'm not "done," but holy shit was that ever underwhelming. I agree with whoever said everything was resolved by writer fiat rather than the characters being smart. The only smart thing anyone did in the whole fucking episode was Rush's group sealing themselves in with the plants, and even then the only reason that worked was because Random Lucian Alliance Babe pulled the trigger on Crazy Lucian Alliance Guy. Everything was just so fucking arbitrary. The sequences with TJ and her baby had potential but came off as so much filler. I love babies, but how many fucking scenes of a woman holding a baby do we need in a single episode? Christ.

Pop music montage? Again? It was cool the first time, guys. The tenth time around it just pisses me off.

Everyone in this episode besides Eli just felt completely useless. I also hate the voice Robert Knepper is using.

Ugh. I really want to like this show, but the people making it seem intent on endlessly fucking it up.

I wasn't overwhelmed by the pilot, but I continued watching. I watched out of curiosity for 8 episodes until "Time" just completely blew me away. Robert Cooper received sole writing credit and just did a fantastic job. I thought I could grow to love the show. Alan McCullough's "Justice" was also top notch. Then Mallozzi and Mullie come in and pretty much wrap things up in 15 seconds with the second part of the episode. Human - Sabotage were also really good.

Mallozzi and Mullie REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY suck. They shouldn't be allowed to write anything. These past four episodes have been terrible for the most part.

I agree, "Time" was excellent. I also liked the mystery surrounding the blue aliens when they first appeared.

The Lucian Alliance stuff at the end of last season was done well up until they boarded the ship. At that point it just started to get routine and stupid. Hostage situations are very tricky to make compelling at this point. There was just no urgency to it because I knew everyone would live (except TJ's baby, lol.)

My thoughts on the premiere:

- Doctor Brightman was in one episode of SG1 and suddenly it seems like they call on her constantly from Starge Command. It’s nice to see the continuity, but is she the only doctor that will make the transfer?
- Guess they couldn’t afford Rhona Mitra for this episode.
- It was obvious that Julie McNiven and Robert Knepper were shoehorned in, but I think they could’ve done a worse job of it.
- I was really impressed by Mike Dopud. For a character that wasn’t really well rounded, he did a lot to make the character likeable in my eyes.
- Why does every invading team have one thinker and one loose cannon?
- I’m glad Greer got to kill someone. That man needed to let out some anger.
- I could’ve done without the whole TJ storyline. It just seemed like filler and it would have been much more powerful if the baby had just died instead of being shuttled off to Never Never land.
- I’m really like some of the camaraderie that started between Scott and Greer and to a lesser extent, Rush and Brody.
- It was nice of the Lucian guys to give our heroes flashlights.
- Another great performance, in my opinion, comes from Ian Butcher as Dannic. He was always my favorite Prior and he plays a strong character here.
- Eli continues to be a whiny bitch. Sure, it’s nice to save everyone in theory, but as Spock said “The needs of the many outweighs the needs of the few.” If Scott, Greer, and the rest have to die so you can retake the ship and save the ones exiled to the planet, then so be it.
- Ming-Na still can’t act her way out of a paper bag.
- As for people complaining about the pop song at the end, Criminal Minds does one at the end of their episodes. It’s just a convention of current American television.
Another convention of American television that drives me nuts is the cliffhanger. They really need to plan the second part effectively and now be writing themselves into a corner to make people come back for another season

I guess i have to re-watch to see what the crying Camile Wray said. Nobody is acting like the baby just up and disappeared. Until then I will stick to my theory that the alins gave TJ the ideal that her child went on to live on the faith planet/Heaven. And Cain and the rest died on the planet during the winter

If you're just going to assume the baby and everyone on the planet is completely dead, why involve the aliens at all? People are perfectly capable of having dreams while unconscious without alien intervention.

Destiny stopped her faster then light jump early and TJ saw what she saw in the previous dream. Besides its Stargate, aliens wanting to pass themselves off as gods are what the franchise is based on.

Yeah, presumably they are setting up something for later--or they'll just leave it as ambiguous pseudo-spiritual bullshit, which is how these things usually go. Any attempt to explain it will diminish the potential of the mystery, anyway.

Before I begin my review for this episode, I would like to draw your attention to the post I made reviewing Incursion Part 2 in that review thread. Specifically the end of it, which I will now quote:

So everything is set up for the cliffhanger. Obviously some deus ex machina will prevent the Lucian Alliance from executing Young and the other military officers. Scott and Greer are already through the airlock. Chloe will likely survive her wounds since this show doesn't exactly have an abundance of females in the cast, and I'm pretty sure the actress has been well behaved. And I guess they got around showing TJ's pregnancy and not having to worry about finding baby actors. And Rush and Mr Brody will save the day.

And when all the Lucian Alliance are dealt with we can "enjoy" a pop song montage showing life getting back to normal.

Maybe not exactly how things went, but close enough. I'd say this prediction turned out to be about 90% accurate. Who da man?

Anyhoo, this episode is about standard fare for SGU. The second season seems to be more of the same we had in the first.

Dr. Caine and his idiotic belief in alien gods was something I hoped we left behind, but holy sweet shit he's back ia a sort of enigmatic "is this real or isn't it?" type of thing which I would guess by the nebula appearing at the end is supposed to be real. So the folks on Destiny now have alien guardians watching over them? Yet another element from BSG incorporated into this show. Now all we need is for these alien guadians to manifest itself into someone to communicate with the cast.
Oh wait, maybe that's the deal with Rush's wife next week?
This whole thing is really just a convenient way to avoid having to get baby actors to play TJ's daughter, by not actually killing the baby, because that would have offended someone and this show can't be doing that.

Seriously the Lucian Alliance is getting progressively worse. So Colonel Chernovshev or Specialist Gage or Odai Ventrell or Kiryk or Varro (which ever character this is) has become the sympathetic guy who has been shunned by his peers, leaving nutjob loose cannon in charge, and he goes about acting tough, killing lackeys, threatening to kill lackeys until he is finally killed by a lackey. Cartoon bad guy antics, is this the "harsh reality" we can expect this season? And really, how does anyone actually believe Telford is still on the Lucian Alliance's side? I'm glad there's no reason for him to continue this charade, because it'll be one less thing making these Alliance folks look like complete fools.

And the Destiny crew being sent to that planet? Reminded me of Voyager's Basics. Just saying.

So is everyone on Destiny squemish about doing what needs to be done? Only Rush had the balls to kill everyone to take the ship back, while Chloe and Eli whined. First of all, they civilians with no actual authority, not even over other civilians, so what the hell makes them think they have a say in how to defend the ship?

SGU season 2 is off to an "awesome" start. But hey, let's see how things go now that they got this idiotic story done and out of the way.

Sky only showed this last night.

I gave it 7 chevrons. I think the thing I dislike most is the way even before the episode starts properly they give away a reveal, seriously in the 'what happened before' bit they make an obvious reference to the planet they left some people behind on, way to ruin a surprise guys.

Took a little while to get into it because the resolution of all the various cliffhangers were a bit lame (except Scott and Greer. I liked that and it's something science fiction needs more of, simple smart common sense resolutions not technobabble ones).

It did get better though.

The bad LA guy was more than a touch cliche, but it'll be interesting to see how they work the dynamic amongst the crew now they're in three camps. I don't mind another inssurection storyline, but I hope the groups will start to merge so that if a group does attempt a takeover they're an amalgomation of LA/military and civvies rather than it just being military vs. LA vs. civillians.

The TJ baby resolution was a tad lame, but does anyone consider that maybe the producers were just being kind to a woman who'd just had a baby by not asking her to act like it'd died! I mean I know she's an actress but still it might have been a bit insensitive! And it did seem pretty obvious that we'd see the faith planet again.

I doubt the aliens are completely benign though, as TJ implies, if they're that powerful then sending the group back to Earth must have been easy as building some log cabins.

I like the redhead LA technician. Someone please tell me she's a recurring character!

The show does feel like it has too many leaders at the moment; Young/Rush/Telford/LA guy...I'm guessing the obvious would be to lose lou diamond phillips...although surely he can't be that pricey, what's he done lately?

I actually like Young, he feels real, makes the wrong calls trying to do the right thing. I do feel he needs a few right decisions to give the character a bit of respect back though.

Its still not the greatest show in the world but I still like it. Not like there's a lot of good space opera out there either!
