Less sex, more action and better stories, I say. Recently, TV shows are way too often relying on totally unneccesary sex scenes, simply because sex sells. Most of the time it's a clear sign that the quality of the rest of the show sucks. SGU makes no difference at the moment.

Since Chloe isn't interested in Eli, maybe Lt. Titties would be willing to take his cherry?

If it happens, ten bucks says there WON'T be a scene of him plowing her "Scott/James Pilot Style". :) :) :)

Well, all the episode really shows is that she's intensely covetous of Scott, and his using her and throwing her aside is the thing that hurts her the most.

^I'm thinking about the part where she made an idiot out of herself with the widowed scientist and then we see her sitting on her bed alone crying.

Yeah, she made an ass out of herself when she made that comment. But that's not why she was crying. It is clear that she is depressed and lonely. Add to that the fact that their chances of getting home are very, very slim and her ability to see anyone she once knew is very limited. I think she has a good reason to cry. I don't know why this plot point to give the character a little depth is such a bad thing.

Because while we may understand why the corporals and sergeants can't be with her...yet:vulcan:. It is the part where she can only be with that world's greatest catch Lt Scott:cardie: or nobody. We don't expect all the rest of the civilian doctors and engineers to take Dr. Caine's route of indifference to having a partner after months aboard Destiny with little hope of getting home..

Well, there is also the fact that she was unceremoniously dropped like a bad habit from Scott, who she clearly had feelings for. That's going to hurt. Add to the fact that he quickly hooked up with someone else fairly quickly and the relationship is working. That's going to sting. Then add to the fact that she is forced to face that every single day. The cards are not set in her emotional favor.

It's really this simple - you can't chase the young male audience and then expect them to be all that sympathetic with a woman who got dumped by Captain Perfect and struck out with Dr. Slightly Less Perfect and is now 'lonely' as a result.

Especially after setting up Mama's Boy and not Captain Perfect as the audience's surrogate character and then having little Miss Sunshine put Mama's Boy in the friend zone.

^I'm sure the usual suspects will be along to bash us for identifying more with the nerd than Captain Perfect.

I don't expect Chloe to throw herself at Eli the same way Keller did with McKay, but the way this show has gone so far has been more than a little obvious and on the nose.

Considering that this episode had people hallucinating things they wanted to happen, how is James and Scott having sex uneccesary? What, should have have shook hands and said 'pleasure doing business with you' instead? Anyway, what is the problem with the fact that James is lonely? I discussed her character with a friend recently, and came to the conclusion she's looking for more then sex, she's looking for a stable relationship, someone that she can support and that will support her. Also, like other's have said, consider how she found out that she was cast aside, she came up upon Scott and Chloe acting like a couple of high schoolers with two free seconds to suck face, and then Scott acted like she was the one being the bitch in the situation. What a crock, and I don't mean on her part, I mean on his part. I can certainly deal with her storyline a whole lot easier then the storyline of the civilians deciding that the military is evil, simply because they are the guys with the guns and therefor need to be under lock and key, except for when they are needed to act as a human shield.

StarshipDefiant, you make excellent points with logical reasoning. Too bad it'll probably be ignored.

It wasn't in the context of a show that does such scenes a lot. All I'm saying is that this show does not do such scenes very well and I question the reasons for their inclusion.

I don't have any issue with sex scenes in general, only when they feel like they're thrown in there to make the show "edgy".

"Edgy" for me as a Sci-Fi fan is the storyline opportunity they missed with Wray here.

The problem is that I'm having trouble engaging with the character and this sympathy the writers are trying to evoke from me isn't there. That's as much my fault as it is theirs, I guess. I can only express how I saw an episode.

Sure, don't get me wrong on this - Scott has acted like a complete jerk. He drops her like a stone, doesn't even have the decency to actually tell her why and then openly flaunts his relationship with Chloe in front of her.

I can certainly deal with her storyline a whole lot easier then the storyline of the civilians deciding that the military is evil, simply because they are the guys with the guns and therefor need to be under lock and key, except for when they are needed to act as a human shield.

Well, for one thing, the IOA - the people who pay for all this - is a civilian organisation. Effectively, Colonel Young and co have staged a coup just by being there.

Young only has O'Neill's authority to give orders. O'Neill might take his authority from the President but even he doesn't have the final say so on the Stargate programme.

While I don't agree that they should just be human shields, as Wray says, the purpose of the military is to protect civilians, not to command them. A civilian must always be at the top in any such structure. And in general, the guns should be locked away outside of a combat situation.

Scott is an asshole. He tries to do right, but he is not without glaring flaws. I don't know why anyone would call him "Captain Perfect." He dropped James like a hot potato to trade up to Chloe. He has also, on multiple occasions, made it evident he would go around gunning down civilians if Young told him to. All he cares about is making a good impression on the Colonel, apparently.

^I call him "Captain Perfect" because that's a nickname I use for characters like him - the main action hero character who always gets the girl.

Yeah, but he--like everyone else on this show--is a colossal fuckup.

Personally, I identify most with Rush. Make of that what you will. :p
