I love a dude whose best response is the rolling-eyes icon.
But let me point out again...the thread's title says its for those who want to discuss/grade the episode. How exactly do YOU do that if you haven't seen it yet? If you were actually curious about what folks thought about this episode you only needed to read through the pages of comments to find out. But you decided to jump right in the middle of the thread to ask your phony questions which were obviously just your way of taking a shot at the series itself. That could have been done in other threads. Perhaps even one which you yourself could have started. That being said please spare me your "what did I do/who says I don't like the show" response because no one is buying it. And if you don't understand that I'll put it in a language you're more familiar with:![]()
Oh dear
This one was pretty dull.
Another dull boring episode, wonderful. Just what this brand new show needs in it's opening few episodes.
Out of all the positive posts about the episode you took notice more of the one that says it was boring.![]()

It almost certainly was a directive from the higher ups, but that's one of the things I like most about SGU. If this were a rehash of the other two shows, I wouldn't be nearly as taken in. I liked SG-1, but I like that we got something else this time around. Will they move away from this? Unless the creative team falls off track, or unless someone demands a shift in tone (look how well that worked for Earth: Final Conflict and seaQuest), I can't see it happening.I still have hopes that this nuBSG thing was a directive from above that they will slowly evolve away from-- hopefully not too slowly.
But still, it's there; the token failed mutiny,

Agreed! I absolutely love Rush, his whole character. Couldn't have found someone better to portray him I think. I think this was one of the strongest episodes of the series (along with the previous episode), now all of the characters are really coming in to their own, but Rush is still the stand-out character for me. I hope his real intentions are shown soon (and I'm sure they will be). I can't wait for his central episode though, I've read that it's something like, he almost sacrifices his life and has flashbacks to when he joined.
I don't see a sudden makeover or retooling, I just see all the token nuBSG elements fading away in favor of more straightforward storytelling; i.e. the forced conflicts, the shoddy camerawork, the bland sets will be forgotten or evolve.Unless the creative team falls off track, or unless someone demands a shift in tone (look how well that worked for Earth: Final Conflict and seaQuest), I can't see it happening.
Actually, what didn't ring true for me was that Young and Rush were the only ones to recuse themselves from the lottery. There are a lot of people there, a number of them older. It's hard to believe there are no "women and children first" types around. What? I was shocked there wasn't more of a mutiny.

Oh, I believed it.
Don't forget, they're in a bad situation and they have to show that, and I think they've done well at doing so for the most part. I've seen a number of instances where they could have done something over the top, but they didn't. As for the camera work, the best I can see them doing is doing away with the one or two jumpy/jerky moments wee see in each episode, just as a minor fix. And as for the sets, I don't know how they'd redesign those without the story looking contrived. I don't see how the ship could get transformed or upgraded in a plausible fashion that fits with the show. I also don't see them becoming planet bound or getting a new ride. Plus, it costs money to overhaul sets on a significant scale and I don't think there's any sort of critical mass of viewers or people behind the camera who are unhappy enough with the gritty look for that to happen.I don't see a sudden makeover or retooling, I just see all the token nuBSG elements fading away in favor of more straightforward storytelling; i.e. the forced conflicts, the shoddy camerawork, the bland sets will be forgotten or evolve.

and thought they would die
Scott didn't think he was going to die. He knew with certainty he'd be on the shuttle. Which means he was taking advantage of Chloe's fear.
Or maybe Chloe wanted sex. Who knows?

I'm shocked there is a mutiny at all. Two days out of a lost battle the CO and civilian leader are willing to go down with the ship and the Top Soldier is backing them up. A man who has already proven he will drop the hammer on his own people. In one day the military discipline of special forces just breaks, I don't think so.
Exactly. It already seems to have improved since the premiere. As for the camera work, the best I can see them doing is doing away with the one or two jumpy/jerky moments wee see in each episode, just as a minor fix.
Once they make peace with this being their home, they'll do what everybody does in a new house. Pick up some potted plants, some nice posters for the walls, some new furniture, paint, etc.And as for the sets, I don't know how they'd redesign those without the story looking contrived. I don't see how the ship could get transformed or upgraded in a plausible fashion that fits with the show.
I don't know about that. This fad has to end someday, and I have to wonder how happy the Stargate folks really are with the strange changes to their franchise.Plus, it costs money to overhaul sets on a significant scale and I don't think there's any sort of critical mass of viewers or people behind the camera who are unhappy enough with the gritty look for that to happen.
"That sort" is pretty much any Human Being with breath in their lungs. She hasn't been portrayed as that sort so far.
I wouldn't expect it from anyone in the younger crowd, though. Me me me me me.
