-Using Eli to perform surveillance on the crew

That's not as bad as you're making it sound. At least they were only monitoring people in the public areas of the ship, which should be standard practice anyway. The crew still had privacy since there were no kinos floating in their quarters.
I thought the Kino that caught Rush was in the vent in Spencer's room. I know they managed to catch his suicide message, unless he recorded it on something else. I haven't watched the episode in a long time.

How about the fact that James never does anything except when Scott is unavailable?

Well, that's because James is below Scott (and Johansen) in the chain of command. Doesn't mean that she isn't part of the chain of command at all.
Its Star gate, instead of having a Colonel in the gate team role we have a 1LT, Colonel Young stands in for the General. 2LT James is like the Majors in the other gate teams that are heard about but rarely seen on the other shows,
Or the fact that whenever a major decision is made, Lt. James is nowhere to be seen?

Since she's only fourth in the chain of command, she wouldn't be part of any major decisions unless Young and Scott are incapacitated. Besides, she's only a recurring guest character. :)

That's a big problem with the show. Neither Dr. Rush or Col Young ask for much council and support. They make decisions on their own and don't explain what is happening so that we will all be shocked. Rush has a ship load of scientist and engineers yet it seems he only halfway puts up with three of them.. Since James is a Second Lieutenant, unless she is a mustang from the enlisted ranks, she has no experience. And Lieutenant Scott can't have much more if he took time for flight school. While Jamil Walker Smith is too young for the role Col Young has a Master Sergeant among his crew, yet does not use him except as a bodyguard.:brickwall:

TJ is an officer who is also a medic so she does form part of the chain of command - she isn't a doctor who has a rank handed to them by virtue of their qualifications. There have been a couple of occasions where Greer has dressed down the Lts. He does look a bit young but who knows how old he's supposed to be? Black don't crack. It may be that he's meant to be well into his thirties.

They messed up as the initial casting call was for an older "Sergeant Psycho" but upon hiring Smith they didn't change the Master Sergeant to a Staff Sergeant or Gunnery Sergeant. If I can get his bio straight from when he was trapped in the tunnel he would have enlisted shortly before 9/11 giving him his rank faster then any Marine since WWII.

The kino Spencer used to record his suicide message stayed on afterwards and recorded Rush's arrival in the room. Since Spencer brought that kino into the room of his own free will, than neither Young or Eli were violating his privacy.

For some reason I thought Greer stated his age in the kino interview he did in Darkness or Light. But I haven't been able to confirm this. Anyone else know?

A Stargate fan community page makes Master Sergeant Greer 27. The Stargate Wiki says mid 20s

So Greer is somewhere between 25-30 years old and an E-8 already?

Yeah, that is definitely too fast. Particularly since he does not seem like a political minded ambitious ladder climber. With his anger issues it would seem like just the opposite, he should be having trouble getting promoted on schedule.

In my experience in the Army, if you were a really sharp high speed dude and joined at 17-18 years old you could make Sergeant First Class(E-7) around 27 or 28 years old, but unless you had some friends in high places getting your E-8 before 30 was impossible.

But Greer is nothing like the rapid promotion guys I knew in the service, which just makes it even more outlandish.

Re: SG-U

One of the first things I noticed. How could a long running military series get that wrong? My first thought was that he was a USAF Master Sergeant made a Marine at the last minute. My second was they didn't want anothe Gunny, since every Marine character in fiction is a Gunnery Sergeant.

While we are at in any Air Force vets around? Are Senior Airmen like Riley normally addressed as Sergeant?

There is something I don't get about some of scenes involving the stones. Young banged his wife with Telford's body while knowing that his wife only sees and feels Telford's uh body. No matter how horny I was I would never bang my wife or gf with another person's body.

This has been a topic of heated debate when during discussions about the stones. To make matters even weirder, in one of the webisodes that supplement the show, we learn that people on Earth who volunteer to use the stones to swap with the Destiny crew apparentaly sign forms allowing the other person to use their bodies for sexual purposes. Seriously.

It doesn't make any sense to me that the military would allow that, you'd think they would keep the transfers of minds professional, you are afteral using someone else's body, you simply don't have that right to use it in that way. I don't get it.

The military likely doesn't allow it. Just like they don't allow soldiers deployed overseas to have sex. Of course, they also give soldiers deployed overseas access to free condoms, as many as they want. There is a reason for this. They aren't idiots. Heck, even with free condoms they lose more soldiers to pregnancy than they do to IEDs.

In the case of the Destiny's castaways, imagine that you haven't seen your spouse or lover for months and probably won't ever see them again. You don't even know if you'll be alive tomorrow morning. In that sort of situation, not even a monk would be able to resist getting some below-the-waist action.

Most likely, they order the people coming back from Destiny to refrain from sex, and they also order those people to use condoms if they do have sex.

The clause in the contract is a bit of ass-covering, so that they'll have someone to point to if one of the hosts decides to make a big deal about it.

If no one complains then the clause won't matter. If someone does complain, it will invalidate those complaints and make the whole thing far less scandalous.
