Seven Of Nine's Maturity?

7's assholishness and intransigent belief in her own superiority even as she embraced being an individual were what made her such a great character. No she did not instantly after one morality play episode turn into Nice Federation Lady. And not just because she couldn't, but because she wouldn't.

Seven is my favorite character on the show and Jeri Ryan my favorite actress. Robert Picardo, Kate Mulgrew and Tim Russ are close, but I think they had an easier time doing a great job. They didn't have to wear stuff that almost made them faint, for one.

What made Seven work is Ryan was able to go toe to toe with those others and make a scene work. She worked best with those three, and she and Ethan Phillips could be foils for each other at times. Her acting ability is often discounted by some people because they can't stop looking at her boobs.

There are three times as many people complaining about perverts fixated on her boobs than there are perverts fixated on her boobs.

All the people that were fixated on her boobs in 1997 have seen so many boobs since then, that it has to be difficult to peer back through all those boobs seen since then to find Seven's borg bump's at the bottom of their wankbank.

I have an acquaintance who knows I like Star Trek and every single time I see him he brings up 7's boobs and titters. No that is not a pun, that is the perfect description of that kind of laugh.

I have a friend who descends on me for media every couple months since I download about a thousand times more than he does, but with him comes his boyfriend, a nice guy, but YES he does keep saying repeatedly that Jeri Ryan is the only woman that he would sleep with... Which I thought was odd, and a little offputting, but now that you say what you say, maybe that was his attempt at bonding with me?

Well this fellow is one of those people who have a stock phrase for every subject that he trots out and expectantly waits to be acknowledged for his insightful or hilarious commentary. I remember in Outland (the aus sci fi comedy) the date of one of the characters kept saying "daleks, they can destroy the universe but they cannot even go up stairs" every time Doctor Who came up much to the chagrin of the guy trying to date him.

Well this acquaintance of mine has actually said that line when Doctor Who comes up and seemingly expects to be patted on the head for it.

This all sounds snarky of me, yes.. it's excruciating to spend years hearing the same stock phrases as conversations starters, which are actually enders

So anyway yes he is trying to establish a friendly bonhomie with you and he's just not very good at it.

Of course there's a friendship, I'm not a monster.

Outland is so funny.

The person in question is still periodically asking me if season two of Outland is out yet, but I don't have the heart to tell him that there probably will never be a second season.

Is Australia enraged about the new Inbetweeners movie set in Australia?

I don't know. I took a photo of the poster the other day plastered on a wall. Then I went home and watched the trailer which I could not finish because it was so deeply embarrassing.

Oh Australia is never enraged about anything set here even if they make the place look like an idiot's playground. Just being on the big screen and having the rest of the world looking at us is enough.

I saw the fat Outland guy at a small convention before it aired. I remember he made an extremely off joke about Kylie having breast cancer that fell totally flat, whole room full of people just staring at him

I was watching 'Someone To Watch Over Me' it takes place later in the 5th season. 5x22 to be exact. We know she is physically an adult she has the vast sum of Borg knowledge but was she really mature enough emotionally to begin romantic pursuits? As wonderful and charming as this EP was with 7 & Doc, the end result is no.

She's not as mature as age comes across....that's why they show her being entirely inept at dating. She had no experience with romance prior to this episode. I wouldn't say immature exactly but definitely inexperienced.

American dating is odd.

Woman let a series of men simultaneously feed them. Some of these men pretend they like dancing.

If nothing goes wrong, after an extended period of time, exclusive dating begins.

If nothing goes wrong after an extended period of time, sex beings.

If nothing goes wrong after an extended period of time, then move in together.

If nothing goes wrong after an extended period of time, they get married.

If nothing goes wrong after an extended period of time, they have a child.

If nothing goes wrong after an extended period of time, they have affairs.

If nothing goes wrong after an extended period of time, one of them dies.

:)

Dating is different here.

The woman wakes up pregnant and hungover, introduces herself to her baby daddy and they decide whether a morning after pill is necessary.

If it isn't, then it was meant to be.
