Seven Of Nine's Maturity?

"Never discussed".

HA!

Humans forget a lot.

Kes doesn't.

(Kim remembers being born ...Shut up!)

You might remember 0 minutes to half an hour of any random day in your life, but she remembers every second of every day.

The collected memories in her brain of one week is more raw data than one of us might keep from a life time.

Of course %99 of that data is absolutely nothing of value.

Have you ever heard the reverse argument for Vulcans?

That because of their life expectancy, they mature slower.

That they shouldn't be looking for a teenage sexual dalliance till their 40s.

(But it's really easy to find evidence to blow that theory out of the water.)

Does she ever refer to her captivity by the Kazon even in passing? You'd think she'd be deeply traumatized and would despise the Kazons for what they did to her. Do you think its evolutionarily possible for there to be a sentient species w a "normal" lifespan of only 9 years?

Kes prepared their food.

If she wanted to put broken glass in there with her pee, she could have.

Why don't slaves poison/murder their owners? Having, thankfully, never been a slave, I cant imagine what its like so it would be unfair of me to speculate.

You have to be able to get them all at the same time.

(There are thousands of Kazon in each city ship (There was one in orbit or landed nearby that fought Voyager near Caretaker's Array.) which is about 40 times the size of Voyager.)

And it's a dead world.

No where to run.

The Kazon camp is the only source of food and water on the planet, and it's an exhaustable source once the kazon supply ships stop dropping off supplies.

You just cancelled out your own point abt the pee and glass. Anyway, to the original point, I find 7 of 9's maturity more plausible than Kes' but I'm only human.

No sir.

They wouldn't notice the pee-flavour in their food.

She can pee in their food all day long.

Unless they see her doing it, there's likely no consequences.

Even if she's just spitting in their stew pot.

She feels good, and there are unlikely to be any consequences (unless they see her doing it.).

A more expanded version of what I said might be "IF she wanted to put glass in their food, she could have chosen to do that, IF she was willing to face the consequences of her actions would have been her face being crushed with a rock repeatedly until it could no longer breathe."

lol...yay semantics

The Kamakazi strike is an "acceptable" method of attack, as long as benefit exceeds cost.

The suicide attack (suicide bombers) however doesn't give a shit about the cost to achieve success criteria.

Which is slightly different from a suicide mission where it's only a certain likelihood of death, rather than an absolute certainty.

In the case of an abused slave (sometimes), the rationalization is that their life (as they themselves see it) has no value, therefore losing their life in an attack costs them zero.

For most slaves murdering their slavers would guarantee their own death.

Human standards of sexual maturity don't apply to Kes any more than they apply to kittens.

kittens aren't sexually mature...I'm not an expert on Ocampan sexual maturity (physically or emotionally)....Is a 9 year lifespan for a sentient humanoid species possible?

"The death of any Centauri at the hands of a Narn, will result in the public execution of 200 Narn including the members of the perpetrators family!"

The Romans had similar laws in place, but it wasn't just for slaves killing Romans, it was about any nonRoman killing a Roman. 200 dead. Immediately. Pax Romana.

Ocampan bodies are genetically designed to become sexually mature really quickly. Could that translate to being able to handle a relationship with a species that ages slower? That's between the two people involved.

Sexually mature to me means the ability to breed.

Midpoint within their third year for 50 hours they are sexually ripe.

Before hand they are children playing house, and after they're raising children and waiting to die.

In humans, orgasm is a reward for "trying" to make a baby, but most of us should have been able to masturbate (some disturbing google questions I have just asked.) shortly after, if not before birth.

Also human woman can still orgasm after menopause.

Can Kes orgasm outside of her 50 hours of fertility, will she even have sex outside of that 50 hours if there is no pleasure response, or can she at all period?

I just realized that I should not have used the word period in that post to mean "full stop" because of most of the words preceding it the context can be misleading.

Anya on Buffy had some very important thoughts on orgasms: "Why are men so obsessed by them? Sure it's a nice 30 seconds, but then what am I going to do with the rest of my day?"

(I have an uplifting hormonal resonse about her near my heart.)

Emma stared in a movie called "Timer" set in an alternate universe where every one after their 18th birthday can be fitted with a running digital clock bolted to their wrist counting down to zero which will mark when the wearer will meet their true love who they will have their happier ever after with.

(So sappy.)

When a timer starts, the number, reflecting minutes, hours, days months and years, flashing on the frontface is completely random. Some people have to wait a week till they find true love, and then there's the heroine of this story who has a timer suggesting that the right man for her, to complete her life, is 23 years away.

####.

I remember Timer as being quite charming.

It's not very old so it probably still is (charming). I have watched a few things afresh I thought charming a long time ago and been very confused

I remember I had a video, an ex-rental, of this Dreyfus movie.. Krippendorf's Tribe. I thought it was VERY charming and amusing and all kinds of things and when I eventually tracked it down about a year ago I was totally wtf about it. Even now as I type this I want to watch it again to prove to myself it was all those things I used to rewatch it for.

I just read this whole thread in one go and now I'm slightly dizzy. Excuse me while I go get some coffee.
