I'd certainly rather have another Abrams movie than most of the Trek we got in the 1990s.
Yeah, Abrams movies do have flaws - they are missing the depth and intellectual, "cerebral" side of old trek (TOS and TNG) and the exploration of ethics, philosophical ideas, and "The Human Adventure".
But they are also not *stale* and *stiff* and *predictable* and *technobabble-filled* - but instead they are BIG and EXCITING and grand in scope and *FRESH* - something trek has missed for a long time.
If you could combine *BOTH* of those aspects - your would have THE *PERFECT* TREK SERIES. (Movie, TV, whatever.)
And after seeing the New Cosmos, I thing that Seth is actually up for it. Though I also miss Manny Coto's work on the final season of Enterprise (he's a HUGE fan too - and just watch his "Odyssey 5" series!)
I would love to see Seth as maybe Executive Producer and Manny Coto as Producer. (Not sure which of those would be "show runner")
And I would love to see quest writer and directors like Bryan Fuller and JMS and DS9/BSG's Moore - as well as other famous novel, short story, TV & movie writers brought in to helm an episode from time time to time...give the show variety. Maybe get some Trek authors like ENT's season 4's Judith and Garth Reeves Stevens and others could pen some episodes 0 people who KNOW TREK and what it's about. (And I *like* Melinda Snodgrass - I would love an episode by her once in a while. And I kinda liked Nicked Sagan too, and some of the older TO and TNG authors - David Gerrold and D.C. Fontana.)
And boy, if we could just get and Neil Gaiman episode of two, in a perfect fantasy world!!!
