Outside some of the lameness of Pearl Harbor, I've really enjoyed most of his movies, especially The Rock, the Bad Boys movies, Armageddon, Transformers, and even The Island. Transformers 2 was a little disappointing for me because I thought the story and acting weren't as good as any of those films.

EDIT - Ha! I just realized I mentioned every single movie he directed.

I liked the first Transformers film, but this sequel was just terrible. It's as if he thought all the elements of the first film that didn't work were the best parts, and built the sequel around them.

I just read the MSNBC report.

Not a word about the NuTrek film as a comparison.

While NuTrek is important to the posters here, it was never going to be the all time blockbuster that was anticipated.

The dust from Transfomers has hidden your flick.

Meh, we're getting a sequel so we're not too broken up about it.

Honestly, who was actually anticipating an all-time blockbuster?

    I'm just glad it's a bona-fide success!

Star Trek is a solid box office success. It didn't break any records, but to suggest that record-breaking is the standard for success is just ridiculous.

Comparing Transformers films to Trek is what you and your kind were doing before the FIRST movie, when you were screeching about how Transformers sucked, so Trek would too.

Now it's how the SECOND transformers movie sucked, so the second Trek movie will suck.

Oh and they're not talking about.

Except where they say its the #2 grossing movie of the year.

Not that you care. You're fine with it.

    Good for trek.

Although I'm sure teenage boys get a kick out of Transformers, it's really for the 30ish male crowd (like myself) who grew up with Transformers. We all have jobs and alot of disposable income (we're not caught up as much in family/medical/house bills) and will gladly flock to the theaters. I've already Transformers 2 twice, and I'll probably see it again next weekend!

Oddly enough, American Pie was for us too. We were that age back then!

LOL - I'm pretty darned sure Transformers wasn't made for ME, a fifty year old woman!!

Not a Bay fan - although I admit he blows shit up real good - but I don't care one iota if Transformers 2 makes tons more money than XI. Trek did very well financially, it's a certified hit, and T2 was always destined to make megabucks. The one's success doesn''t diminish the other. In fact, a ton of the box office for T2 goes into the coffers of Paramount Pictures, a wholey owned subsidiary of Viacom Inc...you know, Paramount, the company that owns and makes...Star Trek movies.

We're getting more Trek, so I'm happy.

Yes, but will it be 'good' Trek? I don't think these duo writers have a grasp on what makes for good character development.

Well seeing as how they helped make one good Trek already, The vast majority of us have faith.

Oh right, because it's a popularity contest.

I forgot Trek was all about being popular.
