They might not produce any more S31 films, but that shouldn't preclude them from producing streaming movies PERIOD.
What I'm hoping they'll do is make TV Movies with a lower budget and that they'd be better since the stories would be designed to be TV Movies rather than an entire season cut down into a TV Movie.

If they can get it together, I'd prefer TV Movies done right over Super Big Tentpole Summer Action Blockbuster Cinematic Movies. Every first word of that capitalized since they want to be an assault on all the senses.

Paramount will be merged in 2025. Its debts will be paid. The only division in Paramount Global that makes money is P+. It increases its revenue and subscribers every year.
And it’ll be under a new regime, which historically in Hollywood cleans the slate of any projects not already in active production.

You have no insider info and you also don’t know how the industry works. I see no point in continuing this discussion.

To be fair the directors have been going around recently saying stuff like "there will be more if people watch" in articles like https://trekmovie.com/2024/12/31/di...-can-lead-to-more-streaming-star-trek-movies/ with the director saying "Hopefully the fans love Section 31 and love this format, and we’re able to continue this format with other stories and be able to expand the universe so much faster"

So you don't need to attack the poster, I agree with you this will never be a series but people who don't realize that Hollywood directors lie all the time may not know this.
Nah. The poster was pestering someone with a totally false reading of the history of this movie.

They are even trying to tell me they "know more than me" iin a way that is nsinuating they have insider information.

I'm going to say that...I'm OK with it being a 90 min action-adeventure with a good redemption arc for Georgiou's, one still unfinished.

If it goes to series, there's time to expand on a movie that did such a good job introducing us to the characters, even if Georgiou isn't in it.

The first part of your statement is a possibility, the second isn't.

Exactly. After all the dust settles, the new regime may just as soon let SNW finish the fourth season, maybe give it a fifth, then clear the decks and rethink what they feel should be done with Star Trek.

And no, it won't be based on what the fans want. It will be based on what will give them the biggest financial return the fastest way. It's a business. They aren't making movies and series as a goodwill gesture.

Good.

It is possible that'll happen, no doubt, but when it comes to Trek, a long-established franchise...that has a fantastic track record under Kurtzman, where execs may not want to rock the boat, they may well leave it intact. It also has the benefit of:

A. Already having series in production, and has Sec 31 scripts.

B. Ellison knows and Worked with Kurtzman.

C. Trek was instrumental in P+ being the only successful part of recent Paramount.

It's a wild and wooly corporate world but the chances are right now that Kurtzman's company is not going anywhere.

Hopefully this will fulfill Yeoh's contractual obligations and we won't see the Emperor again.
She is fine but I don't get the hype around her. She was always just one of many many decent actors in my mind.

In Star Trek terms she never stuck out for me pre Trek like Stewart, Brooks or most of all Issacs did.

Because I don't want them to make what fans want. I want them to make content their invested in to entertain the largest audience possible.
Careful what you wish for.

The vast majority of art made for monies sake is crap. I want it made for neither fans or money but because someone believes it is a story worth telling. Ironically that leads to more money than some committee making what they think makes money.

I would say season 1 of Discovery for instance was made with neither as the primary concern. Or season 1 of DS9.

Making money is the business but it is a terrible starting point for a project.

If we're going by metrics, the Discovery derived shows did better than recent Picard, so those are the ones sticking around. Viewers voted with streaming, hence, that's what's being made.
